The Chinese term 囡囡 (nānān) is a traditional affectionate term for daughter or young girl, but has also become used as euphemism for a prostitute in Hong Kong.
Synopsis
Gucci (Wong Si-Man) is a teenager who seeks to enhance her own self-image through the acquisition of luxury goods, bidding online for a designer handbag that she cannot afford. Looking for a way to make quick money she comes into contact with Icy (Michelle Wai). Just 19 herself, Icy acts as an online procuress, down to a single regular working girl, the hypersexual Lin (Una Lin), she offers to act as an agent for the underage Gucci's virginity, she also convinces Ronnie (Bonnie Xian) to go on compensated dates. Ronnie comes from a wealthy background however she finds herself alone and afraid of forming emotional attachments, wanting to avoid the stigma of being a prostitute, she instead pays the men she goes on dates with. Despite the differences in background the four become friends.Actors

L'action se situe au Nebraska à la fin du XIX siècle. Amy et Martin Hightower sont un couple de fermiers qui travaillent dur et qui ont quatre enfants. À la suite d'un malaise Amy se rend chez le médecin et comprend que ses jours sont comptés, elle persuade alors son mari de trouver une autre femme pour la remplacer auprès de lui dans les travaux de la ferme. Après plusieurs recherches infructueuses, elle finit par rencontrer Pearl une prostituée, qui l'âge venant n'a plus le succès de ses débuts. La cohabitation ne se fait pas sans mal, mais quand Amy se rend compte qu'elle ne peut plus avoir de relations sexuelles avec son mari, elle pousse celui-ci à coucher avec Pearl, celui-ci commence par refuser avant de se laisser tenter. Lorsqu'Amy semble être guérie, les trois protagonistes mettent au point les règles de ce qui deviendra un ménage à trois. Plus tard Amy fait une rechute et décède. Pearl restera auprès de Martin pour élever les enfants et s'occuper de la ferme.

For years an aging Rukmini Bai (Shabana Azmi) has been the Madame of a brothel in Hyderabad, India. One day she gets the news that she now has a new landlord in Mr. Gupta (Kulbhushan Kharbanda), whose daughter is to marry the mayor's son Sushil, shortly. Led by City Councillor, Shantidevi, the people in this town demand that this brothel be moved elsewhere, preferably on the outskirts of the town, and they do succeed, compelling Rukmini to move with her women to their new location, which happens to be near the Dargah of Baba Karak Shah. Ironically, this attracts a lot of people, and the patronage to Rukmini's bordello increases. Then complications set in when Sushil refuses to marry his father's choice, childlike Malti, and wants to marry Zeenat (Smita Patil) - a prostitute, not entirely by choice and seeking for a better existence, who resides with Rukmini.
