Add to a movie listBent Familia is a 1997 drama set in Tunisia about Amina (Leila Nassim) a married Muslim woman living in Tunis with her two daughters. Even though she is allowed certain freedoms as a Muslim woman this is curtailed when she meets her old friend from school called Aida acted by (Amel Hédhili).
A mother of two, Aida took a firm stand not to tolerate her husband’s infidelities. She divorced and considers herself a liberated woman. Then there is their mutual friend Fatiha (Nadia Kaci), an intellectual who is adamant that she is going to leave Tunis and settle in the West. This strong triangle of friendship threatens Amina’s husband, Majid (Raoul Ben Amor), another adulterer who tries to bring the might of the chauvinist side of Muslim society down on her. Directed by Nouri Bouzid, this well-shot film presents us with the very real problems of women in contemporary North Africa, but offers no easy solutions.

Comment être une femme moderne dans un monde qui veut l'être mais qui ne l'est pas encore ? Comment être une femme arabe libre dans un monde où le seul projet qui compte pour une femme est le mariage, ce contrat social qui laisse peu de place à l'individu, à ses choix et à son épanouissement. Comment être une femme arabe ayant un projet de vie et s'entêter à le réaliser dans un univers où l'ordre de la famille est incontournable. Amina, Aïda et Fatiha sont trois femmes de 35 ans environ qui ont fait des études et qui ont découvert la liberté. Leurs trois projets de vie feront naufrage dans l'océan des hommes.Actors

L'histoire se déroule en Tunisie, en janvier 2011. Deux jeunes cousines, Zaineb, 21 ans, et Aïcha, 27 ans, solidaires de la rébellion populaire enclenchée dans leur pays, luttent également pour affirmer leur indépendance et réaliser leurs aspirations.
