It is a remake of a Tamil film, Thirumalai, which starred Joseph Vijay in the main lead along with Jyothika. Gowri was a hit at the box office, collecting close to 17 (domestic net ) crores Rs. It was later dubbed into Hindi under the title The Gunda.
Synopsis
Gowri (Sumanth) is a motorcycle mechanic living in Dhoolpet area of Hyderabad. Shweta (Charmme Kaur) is a college student who is the daughter of media baron Chandra Shekhar (Vizag Prasad). Gowri and Shweta fall in love with each other to the disapproval of Chandra Shekhar. He seeks the help of a mafia leader Sarkar (Atul Kulkarni) to separate Gowri and Shweta. The rest of the story is all about how Gowri overcomes Shweta's father and Sarkar to gain Shweta's hand in marriage.Actors

Chanti, a soldier, arrives at his village for his father's funeral. He is bequeathed 5 acres (20,000 m) of property which he plans to use for his blind sister Revathy. Unfortunately the land happens to be between two proposed sites for a road in which the local MLA (Atul Kulakarni) has an interest, as it leads to his factory. He offers to buy it from Chanti, who refuses, citing it as a memorial of his father. Revathy is married to Raja Ravindra, Chanti's army friend, who is killed by the MLA. The rest of the story is how Chanti avenges his friend and father, who it is revealed was also killed by the MLA and marries his cousin (Charmme Kaur).

Chinna (Sumanth) is born in jail to a mother who dies during childbirth. The Jailer (Chandra Mohan) feels sorry for Chinna and adopts him. He brings up Chinna along with his son, Sanjay (Rajiv Kanakala) and daughter. In a dramatic situation, Chinna kills the Jailer’s brother and is put in jail. Upon release, the jailer and his family tell Chinna to stay away from them. So Chinna moves into a rough neighborhood that happens to be under the control of the local mafia there. He overpowers the mafia there eventually and becomes a protector for the people there. A clerk in the commissioner’s office (Charmy) enters as a co-tenant in Chinna's house. Love sprouts between them. However, she mistakenly assumes that Chinna is a soft natured guy. She's unaware of his reputation in that locality nor of his murderous past. Their relationship breaks when she finally discovers the truth about Chinna. How do they get back together? Why did Chinna kill the jailer’s brother? Will Chinna become a part of the jailer’s family again? All these questions are answered towards the end when the shocking truth is revealed by the Jailer's wife.

Mass (Nagarjuna Akkineni) is an orphan, who bonds well with his landlord's son Adi (Sunil). He is behind a collegian Anjali (Jyothika) who happens to be the daughter of Vizag city's mafia don Satya (Raghuvaran). This restricts her from falling for him, as it would land him in danger but she finally gives in after some time. She suggests that he ties the knot immediately before her brother (Rahul Dev) and father try separating them. The gangsters in the process kill Mass's best friend Adi, when he tries to stop them when they try separating the lead pair, before their marriage. The hero moves into Vizag and stays in an apartment hiding his identity to take revenge on the mafia dons. Finally his quest for revenge is completed, and also he eliminates the anti-social elements in the society by killing them.

Arjun (Siddharth Narayan) is an NRI who lives with his grandfather (Akkineni Nageswara Rao) and grandmother Padmavathi (Waheeda Rehman). Padmavathi wants Arjun to get married. Arjun, along with the help of his friend Puppy (Sunil), close in on three girls: Shalini (Saloni Aswani), Sravani (Sadha) and Sandhya (Charmme Kaur). Shalini is a tennis player, Sravani is a student who is pursuing MBBS, and Sandhya is women's activist. Incidentally, all three girls happen to be Arjun's childhood friends. Arjun introduced himself as krishna for introducing himself, not like a childhood friend. He started impressing them with his funny and joyful attempts and he succeed to impress three of them and three became very close to him. He was confused to decide whom should he propose in three of them. Arjun decides to randomly draw one of the three names and whoever gets picked, Arjun would try to love that girl.
