Synopsis

Benedetto (Leonardo Pieraccioni) is a professor of Lucca, he was called in the transmission C'é posta per te of Maria De Filippi, he discovers that her mother recently died, had adopted a Brazilian girl. Several years has passed and the girl in question has become a beautiful model: came to Italy to work, absolutely she want to know the "brother".

Leopoldo (Leonardo Pieraccioni) is a separate teacher and comes to know his father's death. Once arrived at the morgue, however, the parent wakes up and says he just wants to pretend to be dead to escape from their creditors. In Florence, the young carpenter Arturo dreams of becoming a great writer. In fact he has the talent to be able to write fantasy stories for children, and so he is snubbed by Italian critics. However Arturo does not give up, and sends the proofs to a famous Florentine editor. Meanwhile, the family of Arturo is broke because his uncle is gone bankrupt with an useless shop. But fame for Arturo arrives early, because the publisher remains excited about the fantastic stories, and so the book is published with the title: "The fish in love". Arturo starts to know celebrity and wealth, but soon gets bored, because he feels himself suffocated by the fame. Indeed Arturo falls in love with beautiful Matilda, promised in marriage to a pompous man of Bergamo. With her, Arturo flees into a house in the woods, and plans a new life, just like in the fairy tales.

Starring Paolo Bonolis, Sergio Rubini and Stefania Rocca, the film mocks the Italian political class and its hypocrisy. The zealot politician Massimo (Paolo Bonolis), proponent of a law about the defense of family, has a secret flirt with Martina, a young emerging actress (Elena Santarelli). To divert any suspicions, he brings his family on holiday to Paris, leaving his beloved looked after by his driver, Mariano (Sergio Rubini). After photos portraying Mariano and Martina as lovers are published on local gossip magazines, Mariano's wife faints, is hospitalized and leaves him. Massimo comes back to Rome thinking to be out of danger, but Massimo and Martina will revenge on him. The happy ending comes on Christmas's eve when the truth bobs up.
