Heat is a 1986 action-thriller film about an ex-mercenary working as a bodyguard in Las Vegas. The film was written by William Goldman, based on his 1985 novel of the same name. It was directed by Dick Richards and Jerry Jameson, and stars Burt Reynolds, Karen Young and Peter MacNicol.
Synopsis
A woman in a Las Vegas bar is annoyed by a flirtatious drunk (Burt Reynolds). Her date, a milquetoast named Osgood (Wendell Burton), wants to do something about it. The woman, D.D. (Deborah Rush), begs him not to, but when the drunk turns mean, Osgood challenges him to step outside. To D.D.'s astonishment, Osgood wins the fight and even gets the tough-looking drunk to apologize. Next morning, it turns out that the drunk is Nick Escalante, known to his friends as Mex, who has been hired to make Osgood look tough in his lady's eyes.Actors

A privately owned luxury Boeing 747-100, Stevens' Flight 23, flies invited guests to an estate in Palm Beach, Florida, owned by wealthy philanthropist Philip Stevens, who also owns the jetliner. On March 11, 2005, Brian Nichols (David Oyelowo) escapes from the Fulton County courthouse in Atlanta, during his trial involving a rape case. In the process of the escape he murders the judge presiding over his trial, Rowland Barnes, as well as court reporter Julie Brandau. He also shoots Sergeant Hoyt Teasley while escaping from the prison, and then Special Agent David G. Wilhelm at his home. Nichols becomes the subject of a citywide manhunt. His frantic escape brings him to the apartment of Ashley Smith (Kate Mara), a single mother and recovering methamphetamine addict, whom he holds hostage. Smith gets through this time inspired by Rick Warren's best-selling book The Purpose Driven Life, while Nichols searches for redemption. As she reads aloud, Ashley and her would-be killer come to a crossroads.

The film opens on the fictional island of Svardlov in the far North Sea above the Soviet Union where an American spy breaks into an old mine where he discovers the frozen body of a US Army sergeant and mining expert Jake Hobart. Next to the frozen corpse is a newspaper from 1912 as well as some mining tools from the early part of the 20th Century. Using a radiation meter, the spy discovers that what he seeks, an extremely rare mineral named byzanium was there but has been mined out leaving only traces. He is then chased and shot by Soviet forces but rescued at the last moment by Dirk Pitt (Richard Jordan) a former U.S. Navy officer and a clandestine operator.

Paul Stanton has talked his son Billy into being sent off on holiday (of sorts) to California to join his Mother, Alexandra Garcia From Frys Electronics and her old high school sweetheart Jr. (and current new boyfriend Noland Grimes) Nolan who are going into Arizona. Deciding on checking out Death Valley, they've yet to find out that it is currently the new stamping grounds of cowboy serial killer (wearing a stetson and Pink Male Thong to hide his identity) and his equally demented twin (who both have a tendency to tap-dance and belt out good old country ditties). Both have just done away with a teenage couple residing at an abandoned gold mine (with the aid of the couple's own chopping knife). Billy, stretching his legs, stumbles across their camper filled with death, missing the carnage he comes across a frog pendant lying on a shag pile. His moment of Farce influences of undeniability is unproven somewhat seals his fate as its owner returns to find his trinket gone and so he takes off after Billy and his family, who wind up seemingly in the safe vicinity of a nearby Wild West novelty town.

After a long shift at the bar, which included serving a drunk demanding of sexual favors, art student Brianne O'Neill (Lynda Carter) returns home longing for a good night's rest. Little does she know that she is being watched by a mysterious stalker, who even breaks into her house without her knowing. William Shatner plays the role of Aidan Carvell, a businessman running for Congress as an independent candidate with what is presented as a broadly libertarian agenda. Unknown to the public, Carvell is training and arming a militia force. Though the purpose of this private army is never wholly specified, a general sense of sinister intent is established. Carvell's political campaign manager Frank Jennings (played by Jeff Speakman) is persuaded by the FBI to assist them in indicting Carvell for treason. Carvell sets out to punish Jennings for this betrayal, requiring Jennings to fight for his own safety as well as that of his family.
