Synopsis
Le film se déroule au Ghana en 1955, pendant les troubles qui suivent l'indépendance du pays. Kwesi Atta Bosomefi, natif du pays, est devenu un pur produit de l'éducation coloniale scolaire et religieuse. Il rejette sa culture d'origine, jusqu'à angliciser son nom en Quincy Arthur Bosomfield. Il accède au poste de Commissaire régional africain. Lorsque les travailleurs locaux protestent contre leurs conditions de travail, Quincy prend le parti des colons blancs contre eux. Il va jusqu'à trahir sa propre famille ; lorsque son fils est grièvement blessé, il refuse de le faire soigner.Actors

Trois ermites aînés, Charlie (Gilbert Sicotte), Tom (Rémy Girard) et Boychuck (Kenneth Welsh), vivent dans la forêt de l'abitibienne, isolés du reste du monde. In order to improve their lifestyle, village near Badaun, based Ghulam Hasan (Farooq Shaikh) decides to re-locate to Bombay, on the insistence of his close friend Lalulal Tiwari (Jalal Agha). Peter Huber (Peter Kern), the proprietor of a Bavarian corner newsstand, wins a free trip to New York City in a magazine contest, he is overjoyed. Filled with romantic ideas from the movies, his actual encounter with the gritty realities of the Big Apple are sobering. Nonetheless, he is in for the adventure of his life. Jimmy "Fingers" Angelelli (Harvey Keitel) is a brilliant young pianist who also works as a collector for his father Ben (Michael V. Gazzo), a powerful loan shark. Wherever Jimmy goes, he always carries a stereo with him, playing classic rock from the '50's and '60's. While trying to concentrate on an up-coming recital interview at Carnegie Hall, Jimmy loses focus when he falls for a woman named Carol (Tisa Farrow). He gets further side-tracked with collecting a large debt from a mafioso named Riccamonza (Tony Sirico), who eventually threatens Ben's life. This forces Jimmy to seek retribution.
