Synopsis
Two Indian Secret Service Agents, Ajay Saxena and Abdul, are not only co-workers, but also live like brothers and family. Their Chief asks Abdul to take charge of Project M, dealing with India's nuclear capability for defense, while Ajay proceeds on a vacation to Switzerland. Once there, he meets with beautiful Anju and both fall in love with each other. When he returns to India, he is told that Abdul has been killed, the file pertaining to Project M is missing, and he is assigned the task of not only recovering the file but also apprehending the culprits. Ajay sets out to Bangalore and finds that Anju also lives there with her wealthy businessman dad, Brij Mohan alias BM.. Ajay will soon find out that his romance with Anju is short-lived as her dad may be connected with the masterminds who had the secret file stolen, and are now determined to do away with Ajay as they had with Abdul.Actors

Kajal (Karishma Kapoor) is the daughter of Prof. Sidhant Sharma (Alok Nath). Karan (Sunny Deol) is a criminal working for Gajraj Chaudhry (Amrish Puri) who falls in love with Kajal and follows her everywhere. Initially she dislikes him. But gradually they fall in love and Karan leaves the world of crime to return to a normal life. Rajeev aka Raju (Salman Khan) comes back from America and is to be married to Kajal. Kajal leaves Karan which breaks his heart and he starts visiting Tulsibai (Tabu), a tawaif (dancer/prostitute). Raju learns that his Dad (Dalip Tahil) and Uncle Gajraj are into illegal activities. In troubled Kashmir reside the Kaul family, consisting of Major Amrish, his wife Sudha, a son, Ajay, and a daughter. Ajay meets with two accidents on his motorcycle due to the carelessness of Neha Pandit, this leads to their meeting again, and both fall in love. Ajay finds out that Neha has been widowed, but this does not deter him, and he convinces her father-in-law R.K. Sharma to bless them, which he does so. Shortly after his approval, Neha is abducted by terrorists headed by Juded Afghani, who demand the release of their accomplice Naved Rabhani, and in exchange of Neha, Ms. Anita Choudhary the daughter of India's Home Minister's Bhagwat Choudhary. Ajay must abduct Anita if he is to ever see Neha alive again, but amongst Anita's bodyguard is Major Amrish Kaul, who have now re-located to New Zealand. Ajay travels to New Zealand, and does abduct Anita, only to find out that he is nothing more than a pawn in the hands of terrorists, and Neha herself, who is not what she claims to be. She's also a terrorist. Then Ajay tries to set things right and he finally kills all the terrorist including Neha and saves Anita.

The film is based on William Shakespeare's Macbeth and with Mumbai underworld as its backdrop. The film opens before the declaration of the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. At a Forward operating Airbase Air force Wing Commander Anand 'Andy' Bajwa, setting his stop watch waits for the Air raid Siren to go. As the siren goes he sprints Towards his MiG-21 armed, fueled and Ready for take off. Bajwa and His Air Force wingmen soon take off to an unknown Airbase in Rajasthan. Once there, he is Debriefed by his superior that he & his Squadron are assigned to the Jaisalmer sector and has to fly outdated Hawker Hunter Ground attack planes (with no night vision capabilities) to support the Indian Army. He is soon joined by his Brother-in-arms Army Major Kuldip Singh Chandpuri (played by Sunny Deol) as they meet on a courier flight and speak about the possibility of opening of the Western front in light of the East Pakistan conflict. Kuldip takes up command of a company of the 23rd Battalion Punjab Regiment, arguing the light defence being assigned to the military post of Longewala. He meets his second in command 2nd Lt Dharamvir Bhan (Akshaye Khanna) (who happens to be the son of a 1965 Indo-Pakistani-War veteran who was killed during that war) and the Company NCO Subedar Mathura Das (Sudesh Berry). The company moves to the remote outpost in the deserts of Rajasthan and begin to expand the rudimentary Border Security Force (BSF) post and does a recce of the area up to the international border with Pakistan. They meet the post's BSF commandant Bhairon Singh (Sunil Shetty), a deeply patriotic man who expresses his love for the desert.

The film is set in British India in the year 1915. The story is about a young doctor, Govardhan Menon (Mohanlal), who is wrongly accused of bombing a train carrying 55 people including British officials.
