Synopsis
Tae-joo, a murderer serving a life sentence in prison, is given a temporary release to save the life of a seriously ill young girl, Se-hee, who suffers from Wilson's disease and desperately needs a liver transplant. Se-hee is the daughter of Yeong-woo, and old friend of Tae-joo's who is now a police officer. Upon discovering that Se-hee's now deceased mother was his ex-wife, Tae-joo realises that he is in fact her biological father, and does everything he can to try and save her life.Actors

Homicide detective Ko Gun-su is having a hard day. His mother has just died, and he and his colleagues are being investigated by the internal affairs over bribery charges. Après cinq ans d'emprisonnement dans un établissement pénitentiaire de Marseille, Corey (Alain Delon) est sur le point d'être libéré. La veille de sa sortie, le gardien-chef de la prison lui propose une affaire. Sitôt libre, Corey rend visite à son ancien comparse, un nommé Rico, caïd enrichi, devenu amant de sa petite amie. Corey contraint le malfrat à lui remettre une somme d'argent liquide importante. Amer, ce dernier dépêche deux sbires aux trousses de Corey. Dans une salle de billard, Corey saisit une queue et, à l'aide d'une craie rouge, trace avec son procédé (l'embout de la queue qui sert à frapper les boules) un cercle qu'il remplit ensuite, avant de disperser les boules. Les hommes de Rico le rejoignent et l'entretien se termine dans le sang. Mais Corey en repart indemne. Il achète une voiture d'occasion remarquée dans la vitrine d'un revendeur automobile et entreprend de regagner son domicile du 16e arrondissement de Paris.

Une famille du midi de la France, les Annequin. Noël, viticulteur, vit sur sa terre avec sa femme, Isabelle. Special Agent Jennifer Marsh (Diane Lane) is a widowed single parent living in a suburban Portland home with her daughter, Annie Haskins (Perla Haney-Jardine), and her mother, Stella Marsh (Mary Beth Hurt). At the behest of a pretty reporter, an amorously forward private detective goes undercover as a patient in a private sanitarium in search of a judge hiding out from the police. The two plan to split the $10,000 reward for the judge's capture. As the reporter and detective begin to fall in love, the detective also falls deeper into danger from an abusive attendant and difficult inpatients. The latter include an arsonist and "The Champ," a lunatic ex-boxer who attacks anyone put into a room with him after he hears what sounds like a bell.

In California, an alcoholic named Julia (Tilda Swinton) is out of control, partying every night, and waking up in unknown homes with no memory of the previous night. Her reckless behavior costs her her job and she begins to go broke. She soon meets a mother, Elena (Kate del Castillo), at an AA meeting. Elena takes Julia into her apartment after finding her passed out on the pavement one night. The following morning Elena explains that she wants to kidnap her son Tom (Aidan Gould) from his wealthy grandfather and asks Julia to participate for $50,000. Julia declines, but after some time changes her mind. She visits an old friend to ask for his cooperation, but her offer is refused. She rides to the Mexican border, kidnaps the little boy and blackmails Elena's father-in-law for $2 million. The police discover her whereabouts and she flees, accidentally crashing her car through the wall dividing United States and Mexico. There, the boy is kidnapped in turn by Mexican kidnappers. Her friend Mitch (Saul Rubinek) arrives in Mexico and gives Julia the ransom money. During the exchange, the Mexican kidnappers escape with the money, leaving the boy safely with Julia.
