That Navy Spirit is a 1937 American sports film directed by Kurt Neumann and starring Lew Ayres, Mary Carlisle and John Howard. It is also known by the alternative title Hold 'Em Navy. It follows two members of the American football team at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis who compete over the same girl before the varsity game against West Point.

The film focuses on a young Mexican-American named Tommy (Lalo Rios). resident in Los Angeles´s neighborhood. He feels unable to progress in American society, dominated by white Anglophones. Therefore, to achieve popularity, he decides to become a boxer, thus achieving fame and honor. But when he believes he has earned the respect of the "Anglos", he discovers that they are only interested in his reputation, because they still consider him an outsider because of their ancestry and skin colour. Only two white men treat him decently: his manager Pete (Gerald Mohr) and trainer Freddy (Robert Osterloh). However, they also have a personal interest in him. The manager quits due to disappointment over Tommy's unconditional love for Lucy (Rita Moreno), the daughter of a punch-drunk bum.

Jim Fowler is Western University's football hero and is constantly besieged by reporters. Set in 1951 in South Korea, the 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital is assigned two replacements: Captains "Hawkeye" Pierce and "Duke" Forrest, who arrive in a stolen Jeep. They are insubordinate, womanizing, mischievous rule-breakers but they soon prove to be excellent combat surgeons. They immediately clash with their new tent mate Frank Burns, who is both a religious man and an inferior, stubborn, inept and incompetent surgeon who, when he causes mistakes, selfishly accuses anyone that is aside him. Hawkeye and Duke pressure Lt. Colonel Henry Blake, the unit CO, to have Burns removed from "their" tent. They also ask him to apply for a specialist thoracic surgeon to be assigned to the 4077th. Their wish is granted when Captain "Trapper" John McIntyre arrives at the 4077th.
