Deuxième fiction de Eva Neymann après Au bord de l'eau en 2006, il s'agit du dernier rôle au cinéma de Yekaterina Golubeva, décédée peu après le tournage.
Le film est sorti en salles en France le 20 novembre 2013, distribué par A3 Distribution.
Synopsis
À l'hiver 1944, un garçonnet de huit ans traverse l'URSS en train, accompagné de sa mère, afin de rendre visite à son grand-père. Le voyage se trouve compromis lorsque la mère tombe gravement malade : hospitalisée d’urgence, elle meurt du typhus dans un village inconnu plongé par la Seconde Guerre mondiale dans une misère sombre, comme de nombreuses autres bourgades du pays. Livré à lui-même au milieu de paysages désolés et d'une population cupide et nécessiteuse, l'enfant reste toutefois déterminé à mener à terme son périple.Actors

En 1996, dans un hôpital psychiatrique situé en Ingouchie, près de la frontière avec la Tchétchénie, les patients se trouvent livrés à eux-mêmes lors de la première guerre. Dans cette folie meurtrière, Janna est la seule à apporter un peu de douceur et de joie lorsqu'elle joue de l'accordéon.

"B for Bertie" is an RAF Vickers Wellington bomber whose crew was forced to bail out over the Netherlands near the Zuider Zee after one of their engines was damaged during a nighttime raid on Stuttgart. Five of the six airmen find each other; the sixth goes missing. The first Dutch citizens they encounter, led by English-speaking schoolteacher Else Meertens (Pamela Brown), are suspicious at first as no aircraft is reported to have crashed in the Netherlands (the abandoned bomber actually reaches England before hitting a pylon). After much debate and some questioning, the Dutch agree to help, despite their fear of German reprisals.

When an American infantry unit surrenders to the North Koreans, the prisoners of war have their hands bound behind their backs and are then executed. This film is Alexei German's solo directorial debut which took a philosophical approach to the Soviet usage of "heroes" and "traitors". Screenplay by A. German and Eduard Y. Volodarsky (1941-2012), the film is based on the novel of his father (Operatsiya "S Novym Godom", or Operation "Happy New Year"), Yuri German (1910-1967), a famous Soviet novelist, screenwriter, and journalist. It was shot brilliantly in black-and-white by a crew of cinematographers (B. Aleksandrovsky, Lev Kolganov, Yakov Sklyansky) and Production Designer (Valery Yurkevich).

The first portion of the film is set on November 21, 1963 (the day before President John F. Kennedy was assassinated). Birdlace and three of his Marine buddies have arrived in San Francisco for twenty-four hours, before shipping off to Vietnam, and are planning on attending a "dogfight" (a party where Marines compete to bring the ugliest date, unbeknownst to the girls they bring) later that evening. They separate into the city to attempt to find dates. After a few women reject his advances, Birdlace ducks into a coffee shop, where he encounters Rose, a waitress, on her break, practicing her guitar. She is not particularly "ugly", but rather plain, shy and awkward. Birdlace attempts to charm her, complimenting her on her guitar playing, and inviting her to a party. She is suspicious of his motives, but decides to accept his invitation.
