I Want to be a Boarder, or Ikh Vil Zayn a Boarder in Yiddish, is a 1937 American comedy film starring Leo Fuchs and Yetta Zwerling. It is a parody of Hollywood's optimism and grandiose nature, as well as famous Hollywood actors, particularly Fred Astaire.
Synopsis
Chaim (Leo Fuchs) and his wife (Yetta Zwerling) are in a difficult relationship, and cannot decide whether to separate or divorce. Instead, in order to enhance their sex life, they decide to play a game in which Chaim pretends to be a boarder, and the wife to be a landlady. However, when Chaim's wife begins to fall for the "boarder," the game soon gets out of hand.Comments

The story is about two twin brothers, Azriel and Gavriel (both played by Yehuda Barkan). Azriel is a shy and religious Jew who works in a fruit shop in Jaffa. Gavriel, is a hoodlum and a good-for-nothing hustler who runs a Snooker Bar. Gavriel and his friend Hanuka make easy money by swindling innocent people into gambling on Snooker games. One day Gavriel is forced to renew contact with his brother, because he is in trouble with a gangster who won the bet on a snooker game, and the only way to pay is by selling the family estate which is co-owned by Gavriel and his brother Azriel.

L'action du film se déroule entre septembre 1944 et janvier 1946. Dans l'est de la France, Nina tient ce qu'on appelle « une maison de l'espoir », ces maisons qui ont hébergé des jeunes juifs, pour la plupart orphelins. Nina doit gérer et reconstruire ces vies brisées, tout en protégeant les enfants qui ont passé la guerre dans son orphelinat.

In the Lower East Side of New York City in 1903, a group of Jewish men are gathered in the shop of a cobbler to discuss a problem that has been plaguing them. A crook named Gergerman has been running their businesses out and harassing the men and their families. The men hand over a pair of Gergerman's shoes to the cobbler, Pinchas Simkin. Pinchas takes the shoes to the basement of his shop and uses a special stitching machine to work on the shoes. His young son Herschel enters, and Pinchas explains to him the importance of the machine.
