Synopsis
Mathieu est un jeune homme de la banlieue parisienne qui traîne avec sa bande de copains et se livre à quelques cambriolages. Enfant, il avait rencontré Monsieur Jacques, un vieux professeur de piano, qui avait réussi à le transformer en véritable virtuose. Après le décès de Monsieur Jacques, Mathieu hérite de son piano, mais sa mère, faute de moyens financiers, est incapable de lui offrir des cours de piano. Mathieu sombre dans une mélancolie teintée de rage de ne pouvoir mener à bien un projet musical à la hauteur de son talent. Au hasard d'un déplacement, alors que Mathieu joue dans la gare du Nord sur un piano mis à disposition du public, il se fait remarquer par Pierre Geithner, personnage important du conservatoire de Paris. Pierre assiste à une course poursuite entre Mathieu et la police et comprend qu'il a commis des actes répréhensibles. Il le retrouve un jour à nouveau assis au piano de la gare et essaie de le convaincre de venir au conservatoire, proposition aussitôt rejetée par Mathieu. Il se fait un jour pincer par la police en flagrant délit de cambriolage. Le jour de son passage au tribunal, il fait tout de même appel à Pierre qui lui trouve une issue honorable : celui-ci lui évite la prison en le forçant à venir chaque jour au conservatoire pendant six mois pour y faire des travaux d'intérêt général. Mais alors que Mathieu pense exécuter un simple travail manuel, Pierre le force à dévoiler ses talents au piano et à se présenter à un concours international de très haut niveau. Mathieu fait également connaissance avec Anna, une élève violoncelliste du conservatoire qui va lui redonner un peu de goût à la vie.Actors

Upset at Miley, Lilly accidentally tells Oswald that Hannah is from a place called Crowley Corners, Tennessee, not realizing that he is a journalist.

Harriet M. The film is based on the true story of the Windmill Theatre in London. Eccentric 70-year-old widow Mrs Laura Henderson purchases it as a post-widowhood hobby and appoints autocratic manager Vivian Van Damm. In 1937, they start a continuous variety revue called "Revudeville", but after other theatres in London copy this innovation, they begin losing money. Mrs Henderson suggests they add female nudity, similar to the Moulin Rouge in Paris, which is unprecedented in the United Kingdom. The Lord Chamberlain (Rowland Baring, 2nd Earl of Cromer) reluctantly allows this under the condition that the nude performers remain immobile, so the performances can be considered art, the equivalent of nude statues in museums.

Pierre Delacroix (whose real name is Peerless Dothan), is an uptight, Harvard University-educated black man, working for the television network CNS. At work, he has to endure torment from his boss Thomas Dunwitty, a tactless, boorish white man. Not only does Dunwitty talk like an urban black man, and use the word "nigger" repeatedly in conversations, he also proudly proclaims that he is more black than Delacroix and that he can use nigger since he is married to a black woman and has two mixed-race children. Dunwitty frequently rejects Delacroix's scripts for television series that portray black people in positive, intelligent scenarios, dismissing them as "Cosby clones".

Hansel Schmidt is an East German "slip of a girly boy" who loves rock music, and is stuck in East Berlin until he meets Luther Robinson, an American soldier. Luther falls in love with Hansel and the two decide to marry. This plan will allow Hansel to leave communist East Germany for the capitalist West. However, in order to be married, the couple must consist of a man and a woman. Hansel's mother, Hedwig, gives her child her name and passport and finds a doctor to perform a sex change. The operation is botched, however, leaving Hansel – now Hedwig – with a dysfunctional one-inch mound of flesh between her legs, the eponymous "Angry Inch".
