Phoenix is a peasant girl who dreams of becoming a dance star in the big city. One day, a previous resident of the town comes and offer ten slots at his factory to those interested in the town. The film opens with a clown (Buscemi) whose wife (Beals) and stripper girlfriend (Parsons) just discovered each other's existence.
