Synopsis

Daniel est directeur d'une école maternelle dans le nord de la France qui n'est pas en zone d'éducation prioritaire. Enseignant avec passion et convictions, il doit faire face à la petite délinquance, à des institutions publiques dépassées par l'ampleur de la détresse sociale des familles, qui sont frappées par la pauvreté (causée par la désindustrialisation et les pertes d'emplois...35 % de chômage dans la population active de la commune), et à une hiérarchie quelque peu méprisante.

Lui Wai-hung (Miriam Yeung) is a headmistress of an international kindergarten. Student Ka-ka's father (Philip Keung) was crippled during an accident and is often threatened by property developers with eviction; Mei-chu's parents were killed in a traffic accident, with Auntie Han (Anna Ng), a restaurant employee, as her only guardian; Siu-suet's mother was not approved for Hong Kong residency and lives with her elderly father Mr. Ho (Richard Ng), who sells metal scraps for a living; Pakistani sisters Kitty and Jennie's father does not see a need for girls to study, so when school bus prices increased, he simply did not allow his daughters to go to school anymore.
