Jan Dara is a 2012 Thai film that is based on a novel by Pramool Unhathoop, The Story of Jan Dara.
Synopsis
Based on a famous Thai erotic novel, the film tells the story of Jan, a boy who grows up in a house lorded over by his sadistic and debauched father, Luang Wisnan. Set in the 1930s the story recounts the growing pains of Jan, whose mother dies while giving birth to him and who's intensely hated by his father. Jan grows up with Aunt Wad, his stepmother, and he struggles to reconcile his guilt and longing with different women in his life, including a girl called Hyacinth, whom he adores, and later Madame Boonleung, his father's lover who becomes a key to Jan's sexual awakening.Actors

Ten-year old Mew and Tong are neighbors. Mew is a soft-featured but stubborn child, while Tong is a more masculine, energetic boy who lives with his parents and sister, a Roman Catholic ethnic Chinese family. Tong wants to befriend Mew, but the quiet boy and his outgoing neighbor are not initially close. At school, effeminate Mew is teased by several other students and harassed until Tong steps in to defend him. Tong receives injuries and they then begin a friendship. Mew plays on his late grandpa's piano and is joined by his grandma, who begins to play an old Chinese song. Mew asks his grandma why she liked this song and his grandma responds that it was played for her by his grandpa. She explains that one day, Mew will understand the meaning of the song.

The film follows a beautiful but troubled young girl, Debbie Strand (Rose McGowan), placed in foster care with her estranged grandmother in Los Angeles after her mother and father die in a suspicious house fire. Her grandmother is an ultra-conservative fundamentalist Christian, who is convinced that she can undo years of Debbie's presumed hedonism with some "correctional therapy." Shortly thereafter she begins to abuse Debbie and forces her to wear demeaning and outdated clothes. Debbie soon becomes enthralled with Peter Rinaldi (Alex McArthur), an English teacher at her new high school. However, Peter has a fiancée named Marilyn and strong scruples, so he repeatedly rejects Debbie's advances. Before long, Peter finds that his life is ruined and the bodies are piling up. During the hectic climax, Debbie breaks into Marilyn's home with the intention of wiping her out. Peter soon realizes Debbie is there and is quickly on his way. Meanwhile, Debbie confronts Marilyn. Marilyn runs through the kitchen, but Debbie tackles her to the ground. After a brief scuffle, Debbie is too strong as she knocks the helpless Marilyn unconscious. As she attempts to murder her, Peter rushes in and saves the day.

The story is set during the reign of King George III, in Bristol, England, where young Benjamin Blake (Roddy McDowall), son of the deceased Baronet of Breetholm is taken from his commoner grandfather, gunsmith Amos Kidder (Harry Davenport), and forced to serve his vengeful uncle, Sir Arthur Blake (George Sanders).
