It was directed and produced by Theresa Demarest. The film made the official selection list of many film festivals, including the Southern Utah International Documentary Film Festival, the San Francisco Ocean Film Festival and the Denver Film Festival.
In August 2013 a HD version of the film entitled Keiko: The Untold Story of the Star of Free Willy (HD) premiered at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood during the 20th Anniversary Celebration Benefit for the Free Willy Keiko Foundation. The World Premiere of the film included a Blue Carpet Ceremony with the stars and director of both Free Willy and the documentary.
Synopsis
Les millions de fans de Keiko à travers le monde apprennent enfin la vérité sur ce qui s'est réellement passé lorsque la star de Sauvez Willy est devenue la première et la seule orque captive à être relâchée dans la nature. Le candidat le plus improbable à la libération en raison de ses longues années de captivité, a en fait prospéré pendant plus de 5 ans dans ses eaux natales, gagnant plus de 3000 livres pendant sa rééducation, la mélangeant avec des orques sauvages, nageant à travers l'Atlantique Nord et passant finalement comme une orque d'âge moyen en tant que seule orque captive à avoir été réhabilitée avec succès et relâchée dans la nature.Comments

The plot is loosely connected to the documental stories published in Jim Corbett's 1944 bestselling book Man-Eaters of Kumaon. Narrator of the film is Jim Corbett. In the film, Corbett, who is portrayed by Christopher Heyerdahl, is asked to kill a man-eating tiger who killed a young woman in Kumaon. Corbett arrives to Kumaon and meets with local people. The sister (Mishra Smriti) of the victim takes Corbett to the killing site. They together ambush the man-eater and Corbett kills the tiger from the machan. During this plot, the narration (by Corbett) contains stories of the history of India and the Kumaon region, as well as the efforts to save Indian tigers.
