In the late years of the 18th century, Felix and Peter, two journeymen, are travelling across the Spessart hills to Würzburg. Scared of the bandits that plague these parts, especially after a brief encounter with them, the two are glad to find an inn in the middle of the forest. However, it turns out that they have wandered into a den of thieves. The owners are in league with the bandits, who this very night plan to abduct Franziska, the Comtesse von Sandau, who is travelling through the forest with a group including her fiancé, Baron Sperling. Their coach is waylaid by a trap and the bandits direct them to the nearby inn. The waitress warns the journeymen of impending danger and they pass on the warning to the nobles. During the night, the brigands arrive. To escape, the Comtesse switches places with Felix and, in a man's clothes, escapes with Peter. Felix (as Comtesse), Franziska's maid and the pastor are taken to the bandits' lair. The bandits send Baron Sperling on his way to carry the demand for 20,000 Gulden to Graf Sandau, Franziska's father.

Quand les comédiens Heinz Doll, Toni Mack et Hans Stiegler n'ont plus d'engagement, ils répondent à l'annonce du grand hôtel "Zum blauen Enzian" à la recherche d'un serveur, d'un portier et d'un liftier. Heinz, Toni et Hans sont de bons employés, satisfaisant leur chef Theres Stolzinger. Il en va de même coté cœur : Vroni, une femme de chambre, jette des regards amoureux sur Hans et la cuisinière Walpurga propose toujours quelque chose à manger à Toni qui ne peut pas refuser.Heinz n'a pas perdu son charme auprès de sa chef. Mais il a un concurrent, le Dr. Elz. Aussi, quand Anne Marie, la jolie belle-fille de Mme Stolzinger, vient travailler après avoir fait l'école hôtelière, tous les sentiments sont bouleversés et une fin heureuse s'éloigne. Une excursion de Heinz et Annemarie sur le Grossglockner va rendre clairs les sentiments qu'ils éprouvent l'un pour l'autre.

Greta Lund dirige son propre groupe de jazz avec charme et tempérament, mais ne croit pas à la romance avec ses musiciens. Puis le célèbre trompettiste et chanteur Peter entre dans l'orchestre et tombe amoureux d'elle. Il essaie avec imagination de la convaincre que les musiciens sont aussi de vrais hommes. Après un concert turbulent, une bagarre et diverses confusions, les deux se retrouvent finalement.

Willy, le trompettiste du Bambus-Band, espérait avoir un gros héritage, mais son oncle ne lui a laissé qu'un bus bon pour la casse. Néanmoins, avec son ami Franz, il prévoit un voyage de vacances dans le sud. Au Bambus-Bar tenu par Willy et ses amis se tient un concours de jeunes talents remporté par la fille du célèbre chanteur schlager Rudolf Lothar, Barbi. Le jeune Till termine deuxième et reçoit un coupon pour deux semaines de vacances en bus dans le sud. Willy a déjà distribué les prix lorsque Franz l'informe que l'agence de voyages où ils ont acheté les coupons est en faillite. Craignant de fermer leur bar en cas de poursuites judiciaires, ils décident tous les deux d’emmener les gagnants dans le bus miteux pour leur voyage à Trieste et en Yougoslavie. Plusieurs amis des gagnants se joignent à eux : Barbi emmène Harry et la secrétaire Wilma et leur patron, M. Ratsam, Till emmène sa bonne amie Petra avec eux et, en chemin, ils vont chercher Anja bientôt majeure, qui a fui ses parents et son fiancé britannique John.
