Summer 1941. Over Nazi-occupied France, a Royal Air Force B17 Flying Fortress becomes lost after a mission and is shot down over Paris by German flak. The crew, Sir Reginald, Peter Cunningham and Alan MacIntosh, parachute out over the city, where they run into and are hidden by a house painter, Augustin Bouvet, and the grumbling conductor of the Opéra National de Paris, Stanislas Lefort. Involuntarily, Lefort and Bouvet get themselves tangled up in the manhunt against the aviators led by Wehrmacht Major Achbach as they help the airmen to escape to the free zone with the help of Resistance fighters and sympathisers.Directed by Gérard OuryOrigin FranceGenres Comedy,

King Rudolf IV (Sellers) dies in a balloon accident upon the celebration of his seventieth birthday. In order to secure the throne, General Sapt and his nephew Fritz travel to London, where the King's son, Rudolf V (Sellers), resides and lives through the day in London's pleasure establishments; but the King's demented half-brother Michael (Kemp), thinking that he is the better claimant, sends an assassin after them. Hansom cab driver Sydney (or Sidney) Frewin (Sellers), the new King's half-brother from an affair with a British actress, rescues Rudolf from an assassination attempt. Once his resemblance to the King is noticed, Frewin is hired by the general ostensibly as the King's coachman, but actually to play the role of decoy. The ruse is quickly uncovered, however, when during an attack by Michael's men the royal guardsmen address Frewin as their new king, and the two look-alikes get acquainted., 1h50

During the Battle of France, while the German forces are rapidly spreading across the country, the 7th Transmission Company suffers an air raid near the Machecoul wood, but survive and hide in the wood. Captain Dumont, the company commander, sends three of his men—Louis Chaudard, Pithiviers and Tassin—to scout the area. After burying the radio cable beneath a sandy road, the little squad crosses the field, climbs a nearby hill, and takes position within a wall-covered area, which happens to be a cemetery. One of the men who was cutting down trees for camouflage hits the wrong tree, pulling up the radio cable from the sandy road and revealing it to the passing German infantry. The Germans cut the cable, surround the woods, and order a puzzled 7th Company to surrender. During that time, Chaudard and his friends, who spotted the Germans, try without success (due to the cut cable) to contact and join their unit. They can only witness their comrades' capture and decide to run away., 1h53
