Le téléfilm fut également l'objet d'une pétition de 50 000 signatures envoyées au PDG de TF1. Elle protestait contre « une interprétation blasphèmatoire de la Passion de Notre Seigneur Jésus Christ ».
Synopsis
Comme chaque année pour Pâques, l'abbé Michel tente de monter une pièce de théâtre mettant en scène Jésus et ses disciples. Chaque comédien pourra définir lui-même le texte qu'il interprétera, tout en restant bien sûr dans le cadre de l'Évangile. Mais l'acteur jouant Judas se désiste. Une des actrices propose à son fiancé, Paulo, de jouer à sa place. Mais celui-ci est communiste et ne peut s'empêcher de transformer totalement son personnage, donnant à la pièce un caractère socialiste.Actors

In 1835, Gentetsu Nishiyama begins preaching the prophecies of Michel de Nostradame using a copy of his book, "Centuries." When Nishiyama gets persecuted by the Tokugawa Shogunate for supposed heresy, his wife and son flees with the book in hand, passing down the knowledge to future generations. At the onset of World War II, his descendant, Gengaku, is interrogated by an Imperial Japanese Army officer about the family's continued preaching of the prophecies, which predicted the rise of Nazism and the Axis defeat.

It is 1957, 12 years after World War II. Maximilian Theo Aldorfer (Dirk Bogarde), a former Nazi SS officer who had pretended to be a doctor in order to be able to take sensational photographs in the concentration camps, and Lucia Atherton (Charlotte Rampling), a concentration camp survivor who had an ambiguous sadomasochistic relationship with Aldorfer. In a Jewish ghetto in German-occupied Poland, a man named Jakob is summoned to the Gestapo office on a charge he broke the curfew. As the soldier who sent him there merely played a prank on him, he is released, but not before hearing a radio broadcast about the defeats of the German Army. As no one believes he went to the Gestapo and came out alive, Jakob makes up another tale, claiming he owns a radio – a crime punishable by death. He then starts encouraging his friends with false reports about the advance of the Red Army toward their ghetto. The residents, who are desperate and starved, find new hope in Jakob's stories. But it all ends as the Germans deport the people to their death in the extermination camps.
