Les Brigands est un mélodrame luxo-germano-belge de Pol Cruchten et Frank Hoffmann, sorti en 2015.

Il s'agit de l'adaptation de la pièce Les Brigands de Schiller, créée en 1782.

Synopsis

Pour protéger les affaires de son père, banquier important, Karl Escher a passé trois ans derrière les barreaux pour faux en écriture et détournement de fonds. À sa sortie de prison, il découvre que Franz, son frère, a commis les malversations pour lesquelles il a été puni. Résolu à se venger, Karl ne recule devant rien pour prouver la culpabilité de Franz et mettre un terme à ses activités délictueuses. Mais en s'associant à un groupe de malfrats habitués aux vols et aux prises d'otages, il bascule lui-même dans l'illégalité. De son côté, Franz ne tarde pas à avoir vent de ce que trame son frère

Lorenz Darrandt fut prisonnier de guerre pendant de nombreuses années. Les expériences de cette situaution l'ont profondément troublé et il lutte pour prendre pied dans l'Allemagne d'après-guerre. Il retrouve l'espoir quand il tombe amoureux de la jolie Wanda. Cependant Wanda est une prostituée sous l'influence de son proxénète. Lorenz tue le proxénète. Ludwig Darrandt, le frère aîné de Lorenz et un avocat à succès, fait croire que le meurtrier est un mendiant innocent. Ce dernier est reconnu coupable et doit aller en prison. Lorenz n'a rien à craindre maintenant. Les affres de la conscience le poussent à se suicider avec Wanda.

In 1927, Roxie Hart sees star Velma Kelly perform ("All That Jazz") at a Chicago theater. Wanting stardom for herself, she begins an affair with Fred Casely, who claims to know the manager. After the show, Velma is arrested for killing her husband Charlie and sister Veronica, who were in bed together. A month later, Casely admits to Roxie that he has no showbiz connections and just wanted her body. Enraged, she shoots him dead. She convinces her husband Amos to take the blame, telling him she killed a burglar in self-defense. As Amos confesses to the detective, Roxie fantasizes that she is singing a song devoted to her husband ("Funny Honey"). However, when the detective brings up evidence that Roxie and Casely were having an affair, Amos recants; Roxie furiously admits what really happened and is arrested. Ambitious District Attorney Harrison announces he will seek the death penalty.
