Synopsis
A revolution has just happened in a South American country while its dictator is away on a trip. He decides to return to subdue the revolutionaries. On the flight to Rome, he meets Luis Vargas, the leading opponent to his dictatorial regime. But General Ribéra learns that Luis has taken this flight to kill him, having boarded with a bomb hidden in a typewriter. Ribéra dies from a heart attack, leaving Luis to do everything he can to save the passengers.Actors

Louis Bourdin, un humble poinçonneur de métro à la RATP, vantard mais peureux, travaille à la station Quai de la Rapée. Il est tellement fanatique de romans policiers qu'il en écrit un lui-même. Il prend le pseudonyme de Lenormand, et intitule son roman « Rapt à la RATP » : l'histoire imaginaire du hold-up de la rame des finances, qui collecte quotidiennement la recette des stations à la fin de service, vol qu'il décrit avec un luxe de détails. Il le propose à plusieurs éditeurs. Ceux-ci le dédaignant, il en fera bénéficier, bien imprudemment, une tout autre profession ... reconnaissante, mais dangereuse !

During the First World War, two French aviators, aristocratic Captain de Boeldieu (Pierre Fresnay) and working-class Lieutenant Maréchal (Jean Gabin), embark on a flight to examine the site of a blurred spot on photos from an earlier air reconnaissance mission. They are shot down by a German aviator and aristocrat, Rittmeister von Rauffenstein (Erich von Stroheim). Von Rauffenstein, upon returning to base, sends a subordinate to find out if the aviators are officers and, if so, to invite them to lunch. During the meal, von Rauffenstein and de Boeldieu discover they have mutual acquaintances—a depiction of the familiarity, if not solidarity, within the upper classes that crosses national boundaries.
