Add to a movie listLe Petit Claus et le Grand Claus est un téléfilm réalisé par Pierre Prévert, produit par l'ORTF pour être présenté à l'occasion des programmes télévisuels exceptionnels de fin d'année 1964. Claude Santelli, était chargé d'organiser cette programmation. Il accepta le projet d'adaptation par Jacques et Pierre Prévert du conte de Hans Christian Andersen : Grand Claus et Petit Claus.
Le tournage devait réunir une nouvelle fois, autour des deux frères : Paul Grimault pour une contribution artistique (décors et illustrations) qui est un des éléments majeurs du film, Christiane Verger, amie d'enfance de Jacques, Maurice Baquet et Roger Blin qui n'avaient pas quitté le cercle prévertien depuis le Groupe Octobre, quant à Élisabeth Wiener - dont le père Jean Wiener avait écrit la musique du Crime de Monsieur Lange -, elle interprète la jeune marchande d'allumettes, transfuge d'un autre conte d'Andersen et vient tempérer de sa douce lumière l'humour très noir de celui-ci.
Ce film a obtenu le Prix de la meilleure émission de télévision pour l'année 1964, prix décerné par l'Association française de la critique de télévision en mars 1965.
Synopsis
La lutte sans merci qui oppose le Grand Claus au Petit Claus.Les deux hommes habitent la même ville. Ils portent le même nom sans être parents. L'un a quatre chevaux, l'autre un seul. Pour les distinguer on les appelle le Grand Claus et le Petit Claus.Actors

The story takes place in Marseille, where Marius, the son of a barkeeper César, has a romance with Fanny, neighbourhood girl of the fish sales man in the harbor. Marius dreams of sailing away one day and travel the seven seas. Fanny soon discovers she is pregnant of Marius, a shameful position in their community since she's a single mother with a father unable to secure the future of her and her child. She agrees with her mother and father's advice to marry a more prosperous salesman in the harbor, Honoré Panisse, who is 30 years older than she is. A few months after the marriage and the birth of the baby Marius returns and tries to win back Fanny.

Captain Mollenard is an uncouth, almost piratical, commander of a merchant ship sailing out of Dunkirk. When the ship's owners discover that Mollenard has been selling arms on his own account, they decided to suspend him for six mounts. This horrifies his wife and children who have become used to his long absences. Mollenard hears news of his suspension while in Shanghai where he and his deputy Kerrotret are trying to offload their latest cargo of arms. They become engangled with a ruthless and treacherous criminal Bonnerot and his chief henchman Frazer. Although they succeed in wounding Bonnerot, he takes his revenge by having his men plant a timed explosive device on board Mollenard's ship.
