It stars Hilda Koronel, Lou Salvador, Jr., Tommy Abuel, and in his film debut, Bembol Roco (credited as Rafael Roco, Jr.). The cinematography is by Miguel de Leon, who would later become a renowned director himself.
Synopsis
Júlio Madiaga is a probinciano, a young rustic from the island of Marinduque, who arrives in Manila. From time to time, Júlio would pass by the corner of Ongpin and Misericordia, as he stares at a peculiar building from a distance. While pursuing his quest, he has to work in order to survive the conditions of the urban jungle.Actors

The story begins with a flashback to the past of a woman called Kuala (Lolita Rodriguez). An herbolario (traditional/folk medicine practitioner) performs an abortion on Kuala, as Cesar (Eddie Garcia) watches her. The abortion was a success, but when Kuala sees the aborted fetus, she becomes disturbed. In the next scene, she walks in the middle of a grassy plain, and as the heat becomes more and more unbearable, she becomes insane.

This is a story of day-to-day living by Renata Lolita Rodriguez, her daughter Esther Nora Aunor and Esther's husband Luis (Raul Aragon). Ester and Luis are a couple trying to start their own family while living in Renata's house. The couple can not bear a child due to Ester's sterility, which was ironic being that Ester is a family planning program worker. Ester's barrenness becomes a source of constant argument between the husband and wife, aggravated by Ester's unwillingness to allow Luis to seek employment out of the country. Renata often acts as a pacifier of her daughter during the couple's arguments. Unfortunately, Ester and her mother get into a heated argument resulting to Renata feeling emotional about it.
