Synopsis
Le petit village de St. Mary Mead est en ébullition lorsque le fringant réalisateur Jason Rudd vient y tourner son nouveau film, avec en vedette sa propre épouse, la star vieillissante Marina Gregg (Lindsay Duncan). Ayant acheté la superbe propriété de Dolly Bantry (Joanna Lumley), une amie de Miss Marple (Julia McKenzie), pour s'y installer durant le tournage, le couple convie tous les habitants du village à une réception. Mais les festivités tournent au drame quand une admiratrice de Marina meurt empoisonnée, peu après avoir parlé à son idole. Apparemment, elle aurait bu un cocktail destiné à la star.Actors

The film begins during the late 1960s (during the first premiership of Harold Wilson) at the House of Lords, with Lord Longford, a regular prison visitor, presiding over a reception for a number of ex-convicts whom he had visited and corresponded with when they were incarcerated. The film concerns Harry Sterndale (Rea), a wedding photographer who is mistakenly told by his doctor that he has six weeks to live and begins to kill people who have wronged him in his life, only to find that the diagnosis was incorrect. Also he paid an assassin named Jamie (Reed) to kill him instead of living out his last days in custody and nearly leaves it too late to call off the hit. Jamie takes after the two and after being arrested for assassinating the dictator of a fictional country he takes the blame for all of the murders that occurred during the film. When the famous Pink Panther diamond is stolen again from Lugash, Chief Inspector Clouseau (Peter Sellers) is called on the case despite protests by Chief Inspector Dreyfus (Herbert Lom). While on the case, Clouseau is pursued by the Mafia. Clouseau first goes to London to interrogate Sir Charles Lytton (having forgotten that he lives in the South of France). Traveling to the airport, he accidentally blows up his car, but mistakenly believes it an assassination attempt, and disguises himself in a heavy cast on the flight, which causes complications in the air and on land and leads to an awkward introduction to the Scotland Yard detectives at Heathrow. Meanwhile, Dreyfus learns from Scotland Yard that Libyan terrorists have marked Clouseau for assassination; but permits him to continue.

An organized crime war breaks out between two rival gangs in Chicago during the Roaring Twenties. The leader of the Southside Mob is the notorious Al Capone, who resents his nemesis George "Bugs" Moran's activity in the city. Moran, too, wants control of the town's bootlegging and gambling operations. His lieutenants Peter and Frank Gusenberg use threats and intimidation to make tavern owners do business with them in exchange for "protection." Moran gives the order to have a crony of Capone's eliminated as the Chicago body count escalates.
