Synopsis
Jimmy Williams vole 50 000 $, mais il est arrêté avant d'avoir pu les dépenser. Il est condamné et envoyé en prison. Il y change de comportement à la suite de la mort de sa mère et grâce à l'influence de Mary Regan. Libéré sur parole pour bonne conduite, il décide d'aller dans le droit chemin et de rendre son butin. Les anciens membres de son gang, en apprenant cela, vont chercher à lui reprendre l'argent. Mais, avec l'aide de Mary, Jimmy parviendra à les devancer. Il pourra alors repartir pour une nouvelle vie avec Mary.Actors

The story follows the life of Owen (Rockliffe Fellowes), a young Irish American boy who is forced into a life a poverty after his mother dies. As a result, Owen is forced to live on the street eventually turning to a life of crime. Owen is eventually reformed, however, by the benevolent Marie Deering (Anna Q. Nilsson). Also featured is a fire aboard an excursion ferry, much like the General Slocum disaster of 1904.

Arthur "Cody" Jarrett (James Cagney) is a ruthless, deranged criminal gang leader. In 1941, Mamie Stover (Jane Russell), a San Francisco prostitute, is chased away from the city by several policemen. Dave Henderson se fait dépouiller de son héritage de 100 000 $ par deux escrocs, Martin Tydeman et Bokky Sharvan. The film is set in Persia in the 5th century BC. After the King’s wife is murdered, Esther (a Jewish woman) comes to the attention of the recently widowed King Ahasuerus.
