Synopsis
This is the story of an Oxford University student in the years after his graduation. Allen Shepherd (Braddell) has become a successful novelist and has married Jane Anderson (Gardner). A firm proponent of traditional sex roles, Shepherd leaves Jane when she accepts a teaching post at Oxford. He changes his views and the couple is reunited. Robert Donat and Merle Oberon were given top billing when Men of Tomorrow was distributed in the United States in 1935.Actors

The crew of an M3 Lee tank, attached to the British Eighth Army, commanded by U.S. Army Master Sergeant Joe Gunn (Humphrey Bogart), and nicknamed Lulu Belle, become separated from their unit during a general retreat from German forces after the fall of Tobruk. Heading south across the Libyan desert to rejoin their command, they come across a bombed-out field hospital, where they pick up a motley collection of stragglers, among them British doctor Captain Halliday (Richard Nugent), four Commonwealth soldiers, and Free French Corporal Leroux (Louis Mercier). Halliday, the only officer, cedes command to Gunn.

In 1895, the Royal North Surrey Regiment is called to active service to join the army of Sir Herbert Kitchener in the Mahdist War against the forces of The Khalifa (John Laurie). Forced into an army career by family tradition and fearful he might prove a coward in battle, Lieutenant Harry Faversham (John Clements) resigns his commission on the eve of its departure. As a result, his three friends and fellow officers, Captain John Durrance (Ralph Richardson) and Lieutenants Burroughs (Donald Gray) and Willoughby (Jack Allen), show their contempt of his perceived cowardice by each sending him a white feather attached to a calling card. When his fiancée, Ethne Burroughs (June Duprez), says nothing in his defence, he bitterly demands a fourth from her. She refuses, but he plucks one from her fan.

In the back country of South Africa, black minister Stephen Kumalo (Canada Lee) journeys to the city to search for his missing son Absolom, only to find his people living in squalor and Absolom a criminal after committing murder. Manuela von Meinhardis, whose mother had died when she was young and father serves in the military, is enrolled at an all-girls boarding school headed by the traditional and iron-fisted Fräulein von Nordeck zur Nidden. Manuela is immediately exposed to the strictness of the school when both receiving her uniform as well as having many of her possessions taken from her.
