Synopsis
Après la mort de Caligula, Claude devint empereur en 41. Dans la maison d'Apollonius, l'esclave Ennion aime l'esclave Eglè. Messaline, la femme de Claude à coutume de se prostituer dans le quartier de Subure; un jour Ennion sauve Messaline de brigands dans ce quartier. Ennion doit participer à une course de chars qui doit lui donner sa liberté en cas de victoire. Mais Mirit, la prêtresse d'Isis fait empoisonner ses chevaux et fait enlever Eglè, l'amoureuse d'Ennion. Tigrane et ses amis sauvent Eglè et Ennion. Messaline complote avec Caius Silius contre l'empereur Claude mais elle est démasquée et préfère se donner la mort.Actors

Après la mort de César, le contrôle des provinces africaines établies sur les ruines de Carthage est confié à son neveu Marc Antoine, tandis qu'à Octave échoit tout le domaine de la République romaine. The story is set during the early years of rule by the emperor Nero. He is an ambitious man obsessed with gaining absolute power. His soldier falls in love with a young Christian slave named Lycia, but their love is hindered by Nero, who hates Christianity and unleashes his officers to burn Rome, pinning the blame on the Christians. The film is a semi-historical narrative and depicts the real-life courtship, marriage, and forced breakup of Jérôme Bonaparte, brother of Napoleon, and his wife from the American south, Elizabeth Patterson. Napoleon did not approve of the union (despite the fact that her family was one of the wealthiest in America) and the marriage was annulled. Jérôme was subsequently forced to marry Catharina of Württemberg. They had one child, depicted in the film, Jérôme Napoleon Bonaparte. In order to provide a "happy ending", Jérôme in the film leaves France to be with his wife. However, in historical fact he remained in Europe.
