Add to a movie listMirch (Hindi: मिर्च; English: The Chilli) is a 2010 Indian drama film written and directed by Vinay Shukla. The film featured Konkona Sen Sharma and Raima Sen in pivotal roles. The film began filming in Bikaner, Rajasthan.
According to Shukla, the subject of the film is gender equality and women's sexuality. The film revolves around four short stories subjected on issues of women emancipation, based on a story from the Panchatantra which travels in its various versions to modern times. Konkona Sen Sharma and Raima Sen star in two of these short stories. The film premiered at the I View Film Festival on 26 September 2010. The film had the theatrical release on 17 December 2010.
Synopsis
Maanav (Arunoday Singh) is a struggling filmmaker who will not compromise on the script he has written. His girlfriend Ruchi (Shahana Goswami), a successful film editor, arranges for him to meet film producer Nitin (Sushant Singh). Nitin likes the script but is not very sure of its box office potential. Maanav then suggests a story from the Panchtantra: A woman is caught red-handed with her lover by her husband and yet, she manages to wriggle out of it Scot-free! Nitin loves the story but finds it too short for a feature film. Maanav then creates three more stories based on the same premise: in a way, the Panchantra story travels in different versions to the modern times through the film. The four stories are woven together by a common story. Mirch itself echoes this structure, with four stories mingling with the main narrative.Actors

The film begins with an aged man entering a graveyard to lay flowers on someone's grave. He hears the noise of someone struggling in a coffin nearby. He digs into that place and opens the coffin. To his utmost surprise, he discovers a girl buried alive in the coffin. He takes the girl and admits her to the hospital. Inspector Anton Veldez (Siddharth Kher),the officer-in-charge of the case, tells the doctor to let him know as soon as she regains consciousness and asks one of his officers to stay alert in case the girl is attacked again. Interestingly, that very officer turns out to be a dishonest one and calls an anonymous person informing him of the girl being alive. He, then, secretly enters her cabin for a second attempt to kill her and this time too, by suffocation. He presses a pillow on her face and she manages to press the alarm button. This causes the nurse to rush to her cabin. The officer goes out of the cabin pretending to be unaware of the attack. Now, that the girl has become conscious, the doctor calls Inspector Anton. When Anton, along with the doctor, goes into her cabin, they find her missing. Anton, frustrated, sends his officers to look for her and himself goes to the ground floor to meet the dean. While he is waiting for the lift, he remembers the monitor in her cabin still working meaning that the girl was right there when they entered. He goes back to the cabin but the girl had already escaped. She crawls her way to the store room. The girl is revealed to be Sonika (Surveen Chawla) and is a mistress of a powerful and influential political leader Mandar Mhatre (Sushant Singh). Sonika is a photography student. Sonika is kept isolated and tortured by Mandar. She reluctantly finds comfort in her college friend Akshay Bedi (Jay Bhanushali) who secretly loves her. They both fall in love but Sonika is helpless since she can't tell Akshay about her being the mistress of Mandar. Akshay gets to know the truth and comforts her. They both move to a different home and decide to spend their lives together. They declare their love and have sex. Sonika is happy and finds some hope that she will be free from the torture that she had to tolerate. Mandar tries to find Sonika but she is no where to be found in her house. Later on he gets to know that she has eloped with her lover. Mandar and his men reach Akshay's house and attack him. Sonika cries and pleades Mandar to leave Akshay but he refuses to. Mandar's men kill Akshay by tying him to a rope and throwing him in a lake in a car. Mandar also buries Sonika alive in a coffin. After she is rescued she vows to extract vengeance upon Mandar for murdering Akshay and for herself.She at first kills the police officer who tried to kill her.Then she writes a diary describing her torture. She dives inside the same lake and puts it in the car. She then kills one of the three men who were involved along with Mandar in killing Akshay. After that, she informs Anton about Akshay's dead body. However even though Anton gets hold of Akshay and the diary Mandar makes it look that Sonika killed Akshay. Sonika then again manages to put everything in right order and kills the another man of Mandar involved with Mandar in killing Akshay. Then Sonika teams up with Mandar's arch rival and get hold of the third man of Mandar involved in killing Akshay. However all of a sudden Mandar himself kills that person. It is revealed that the archrival had becomes partner after Mandar offered to share his seats with him in election. Mandar makes it look that Sonika did it and thus police officer catch her. However she manages to escape with Anton's help. Then Sonika kills Mandar with Mandar's wife's help (who came to know about Mandar's wrongdoing accidentally).

Nil Nirjane is set in a holiday resort where several people have come to spend their weekend. Laura is a student who works in a call centre. One day she faints in public during a lecture because she hasn't eaten enough. She is given the advice to sue her parents but her working class parents can't afford to pay more money. Little later when she is at home the energy provider cuts off the power because of overdue payments. Once the electricity is back she surfs the internet for an additional job. Eventually she ends up on a dubious website where mature men advertise in order to get to know women. She contacts a man called Joe who wants to pay her for keeping him company. When they meet she is very nervous and obviously very ashamed but her experienced suitor manages to euphemize the situation. He tells her this business is only about fantasy and nowadays everything is for sale, including fantasy fulfillment. His payment enables her to pay bills and to have a little party. She continues to meet men for money and Joe becomes a regular. But while she gets used to the money she doesn't get used to what she has to do for it. Clients overstep lines and cheat her out of her money and finally even Joe does that. Laura suffers a breakdown.

The main story concerns an innocent young man, Nur-e-Din (Franco Merli), who comes to fall in love with a slave girl, Zumurrud (Ines Pellegrini), who selected him as her master. After a foolish error of his causes her to be abducted, he travels in search of her. Meanwhile, Zumurrud manages to escape and, disguised as a man, comes to a far-away kingdom where she becomes king. Various other travellers who recount their own tragic and romantic experiences include stories of a young man who becomes enraptured by a mysterious woman on his wedding day, and a man who is determined to free a woman from a demon (Franco Citti). Interwoven are Nur-e-Din's continuous search for Zumurrud and his (mostly erotic) adventures. In the end he arrives at the far-away kingdom and is finally reunited with Zumurrud. The tales contain abundant nudity, sex and slapstick humor.

Laure Delambre est une jeune femme développant des tendances suicidaires depuis sa séparation avec son amant. Elle prend une chambre à l'"Auberge des Champs", un lieu où elle venait tous les ans avec son amant, dans l'intention de se donner la mort. Elle doit auparavant éconduire Carlos le gérant de l’établissement dont l'empressement lui est pénible. Les cloisons étant minces entre les chambres, elle entend alors que dans la location contiguë, Peter et Ursula, deux jeunes mariés s'amusent follement et font l'amour. Cette présence d'un bonheur proche lui redonne un peu goût à la vie d'autant qu'elle va s'apercevoir que Peter présente une ressemblance frappante (moustaches exceptées) avec son ancien amant. Et tandis que le gérant poursuivra son harcèlement, Laure s'amusera à exciter Peter. Un jour qu’Ursula s'absente pour aller chez le coiffeur, Laure entre dans la chambre de Peter et s'offre à lui. Mais Carlos dissimulé derrière un rideau a tout vu. S’ensuit un chantage, Carlos ne dira rien à Ursula si Laure cède à Carlos. Laure ne souhaitant pas entraver le bonheur des deux jeunes mariés accepte le chantage, et Carlos la livrera à cinq hommes avant de la prendre lui-même. Ursula n'est pas dupe de ce qui s'est passé entre Peter et Laure, mais le prendra avec philosophie. Le lendemain Laure quitte l'auberge, refuse de reprendre le revolver que Carlos lui avait volé, puis prenant un homme en stop conclura le film en disant :"Toutes les auberges se ressemblent... tous les hommes aussi... et tous les rêves.
