Mission in Tangier (French: Mission à Tanger) is a 1949 French drama film directed by André Hunebelle and starring Raymond Rouleau, Gaby Sylvia and Mila Parély. It was the first in the trilogy of films featuring dashing reporter Georges Masse, it was followed in 1950 by Méfiez-vous des blondes.

Synopsis

During the Second World War, Georges Masse undergoes a dangerous mission by taking secret documents from Tangiers to London.

Grand reporter à "Paris-Matin", le désinvolte et séduisant Georges Masse est un homme couvert de femmes. Il interrompt ses vacances pour éliminer une bande de gangsters opérant sur la Lagune de Venise. Aidé du gaffeur mais fidèle P'tit-Louis, il démasque successivement l'énigmatique Sophocle Zélos et Alessandro Cassidi, époux trop âgé de la troublante Clara qui meurt dans ses bras. Il ne reste plus à Masse qu'à poursuivre ses vacances avec l'adorable commissaire de police Thérésa Larsen.

Les années passent, mais les hasards de leur infortune les amènent à rencontrer un ivrogne, Faria, qui se prétend détenteur d'un trésor. Deux jours plus tard les trois hommes et Linda se mettent en route pour la montagne, emportant les puissants explosifs nécessaires pour se frayer un chemin jusqu'à l'emplacement du trésor... Riche, sous un nouveau nom de Christian Montès, Edmond s'introduit dans le milieu où Morcerf — qui a épousé la fiancée d'Edmond, Maria — et Villefort vivent luxueusement grâce aux millions volés qui ont permis leur réussite. Il retrouve le dénonciateur qui confirme ses soupçons et il attire dans un piège les deux instigateurs de la félonie. Linda tend un piège au maître Villefort, qui veut tuer Edmond pour la deuxième fois.

Fantômas is a man of many disguises. He uses maquillage as a weapon. He can impersonate anyone using an array of masks and can create endless confusion by constantly changing his appearance. In the first episode of the series he is unhappy with Fandor, because of a fictitious interview the journalist wrote about him. He takes his revenge by abducting Fandor and threatening to kill him. He then uses his formidable makeup skills to commit a spectacular crime while disguised like Fandor. When commissaire Juve joins the chase, chameleon-like Fantômas promptly commits a crime wearing a mask looking like Juve. In the end Fandor, Juve and Fandor's girlfriend Hélène are all on the master criminal's trail, all to no avail as the man of a thousand masks finally manages to escape.
