Mooga Manasulu (English: Mute Hearts) is a 1964 Telugu Drama film directed by Adurthi Subba Rao. The film based on the concept of reincarnation. It is ever lasting musical hit film; all the songs are heard even today. They are combined effort of Atreya, K. V. Mahadevan, Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao, P. Susheela and others. It is remade in Hindi as Milan starring Sunil Dutt, Nutan and Jamuna. It was remade in Tamil entitled Praptham is directed by Mahanati Savitri.

Synopsis

The plot of the film is based on the concept of Reincarnation and a beautiful love story. Newly married couple Gopinath (Akkineni) and Radha (Savitri) are on Honeymoon and traveling in a boat in River Godavari. Gopinath cries to the boatman to stop the boat as there were dangerous Whirlpools ahead. On reaching the shores, Gopinath takes Radha to an old building. The boatman tells them that it belonged to a Zamindar and takes them to the Samadhis, which reportedly belong to that of one Gopi and Radha. They, then, find an old lady lighting deepam at the Samadhis. Gopinath recognises that she is none other than Gowri from his earlier birth. Gowri too recognised him as Gopi and breaths her last in his hands. The main story is narrated as flashback by Gopinath to Radha.

Movie starts with the marriage of Radha Devi and Gopinath (Sunil Dutt and Nutan). They start on their honeymoon and has to pass across a river on a ferry boat. While they are in the middle of the river, Gopinath suddenly begins to hallucinate about whirlpool and shouts that they are going to die. Despite of the reassurances from Radha and boatman, Gopinath couldn't be calmed, so Radha orders boatman to take them to nearby shore. Once they reach there, Gopinath starts to say things about Bibiji and a palace that should be there. Radha gets confused and follows him.

Rangadu (ANR) is called 'Poolarangadu', because of his purity of life. His father Veerayya is a manager at a mill, and is framed for the murder of one of the partners, Purushotham. He is sent to jail for a crime he didn't commit. Rangadu works hard to get his sister Padma educated. She marries a doctor, Prasad, who happens to be Purushotham's son. When he finds out she is Veerayya's daughter, he leaves her. Rangadu is enraged and beats the guy who informs Prasad. Rangadu is sent to jail. There he meets his father, learns about his innocence and vows to get him out. Once Rangadu is released, he earns the goodwill of the other two partners and finally exposes them. Veerayya is released, Rangadu marries his lover Venkata Laxmi (Jamuna) and Prasad takes Padma back.

Subhadra (the sister of Balarama and Krishna) marries a Pandava named Arjuna, and their son Abhimanyu falls in love with Balarama's daughter, Sasirekha. The families decide to marry them when they reach adulthood. By the time Abhimanyu and Sasirekha grow up, the Pandavas have lost a dice game to the Kauravas due to Sakuni's manipulation. Krishna, furious at an action of Dussasana that has insulted Draupadi, saves Draupadi. Balarama teaches the Kauravas a lesson and later reaches Hastinapuram. Sakuni and Duryodhana respect Balarama; after manipulating him, they seek his favour by requesting that Sasirekha be married to Duryodhana's son Lakshmana Kumara. They intend to force Balarama and Krishna to support them if the Pandavas wage war after their fourteen-year exile. Unaware of this, Balarama accepts.

Unmarried princess Kunti is blessed by the Sun god with a baby boy, which she abandons in the Ganges to avoid embarrassment. The boy is rescued and adopted by charioteer Athirathan, who names him Karnan. Years later, the now-grown up Karnan realises that Athirathan is only his adoptive father and feels heartbroken. He does not want to become a charioteer like Athirathan, and instead chooses to become a warrior. He masters archery and challenges the Pandava prince Arjuna in a contest. Evil forces dominate the world. The wicked prosper, as the good are made to suffer from the vicious impact of the spirit of the times, the Kaliyuga, presided over by Kali Purusha, great rishis hold yagyas under the guidance of sage Kasyapa to rid the world of this wickedness. Sage Bhrigu (Gummadi) went to Lord Maha Vishnu (N.T. Rama Rao) to request his help. He did not notice the sage's arrival while enjoying the blissful company of his spouse Sri Lakshmi (Varalakshmi). Furiously, the sage kicked the Lord on the chest. Vishnu without being offended at all pacified the sage and made him realize how anger makes people lose their senses. Sri Lakshmi, however, could not bear all this. In great anger, She left Vaikuntam for the earth below. In search of her, Sri Vishnu too came down to the earth. He took shelter as Srinivasa in the ashram of Vakulamatha (Santha Kumari). Later, however, Srinivasa met Padmavathi (Savitri), daughter of Akashraja and married her.

The film starts with the penance of Sage Bhadra who becomes a hill with the blessings of Lord Rama. In later centuries, Dammakka, the tribal lady and worshiper of Lord Rama unearths and looks after the idols of Rama on the hill and awaits someone who can construct a temple there. On the other hand, Gopanna and his cousin Kamala fall in love and marry after a small conflict with their parents. After the marriage, Tanisha, the emperor of Golconda, with the recommendation of Akkanna and Madanna (the uncles of Gopanna), appoints Gopanna as Tehsildar of Husnabad. Thus, a Muslim who had been the Tehsildar to the place is dethroned for the sake of Gopanna. That ignites disgust among a few groups who attempt to murder Gopanna. However, Dammakka saves him while he lies unconscious on the bank of Godavari. She shows him the place of Bhadragiri and Gopanna becomes an ardent devotee of Rama. After a series of incidents, he decides to construct the Rama Mandir on the hill. He collects funds from people and with the help of Kabirdas, his guru, completes the construction of the temple. Lord Rama, Lakshmana, Seetha and Anjaneya live in invisible forms in the place during the construction. They keep on guarding Gopanna until he accomplishes his mission. Thus, with immense bhakti on Lord Rama, Gopanna becomes Ramadasu.

Judge Chandrasekharam is very kind and helpful to the relatives of the culprits. His wife dies after giving birth to a baby boy. His son Raja was killed by two youth (Prasanna Rani and Vijayachander). The judge who now wears the pleader's shoes argues in the favour of the young culprits and shocks the whole audience on bringing out the real intentions of the murder.
