It was a revue film in which an East Berlin housewife is discovered and turned into a singing star by an Italian, much to her husband's disapproval.
The film was very popular at the box office, but drew criticism from East Germany's communist authorities who regarded its style as too close to western commercial cinema.
The film's art direction was by Oskar Pietsch.

Rock Around the Clock tells a highly fictionalized rendition of how rock and roll was discovered. As band manager Steve Hollis observes that big band dance music is failing to draw audiences any longer, he comes across a new sound that piques his interest. While traveling through a small farming town, he attends the local teenage dance and is introduced to rock and roll music and dancing, in the person of local band Bill Haley & His Comets and their associated dancers. Convinced that rock and roll will be the next big thing, Hollis strikes a deal to manage the group and also strikes up a romance with dancer Lisa Johns.

Georgi (Danny Kaye), an illiterate member of a wandering band of Gypsies led by Yakov (Walter Slezak) escapes from a travelling medicine show after he innocently lets slip that the elixir they're selling is a fraud. Gino Fabretti est un ténor italien qui ne compte plus ses succès ni ses admiratrices. Lors d'une tournée à Nice, il entame une relation avec la femme d'un médecin réputé. Ce dernier lui tend un piège, le drogue et remplace ses cordes vocales par celles de Robert, garçon livreur dans une épicerie. Robert se réveille donc avec la voix de Gino et Gino avec celle de Robert (accents et tics de langage compris !). L'épouse infidèle dédaigne le ténor aphone et ne témoigne plus d'intérêt que pour l'épicier. Le docteur n'aura plus qu'à effectuer l'opération inverse et obtenir du chanteur un retour définitif en Italie.

Young Judy Bellaire (Judy Garland) has trouble fitting in at school, causing trouble by introducing her jazzy style into music class and being expelled as a result. SpongeBob and Patrick find a piece of an amulet to the lost city of Atlantis, but have no idea what it is. They take it to the Bikini Bottom Museum to see if the staff there know what it is. Patrick and SpongeBob run into Squidward who thinks SpongeBob and Patrick stole the missing half of the amulet. He soon matches it to the displayed other half of the amulet and tells them it was the key to Atlantis. After hearing the story of Atlantis, the only thing SpongeBob and Patrick want to see is the "World's Oldest Bubble." So off goes the Bikini Bottom crew — SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, along with Mr. Krabs Sandy and even Plankton are on an adventure to Atlantis.
