Nelumbo is an 2014 Indian avant garde surreal environmental film written and directed by Yadu Vijayakrishnan. It tells the story of wild life photographer meeting up with a Neanderthal Man in a jungle. Nelumbo is set upon a time where the current rash and busy world meets up with a time where people revere nature. The concept of how nature should be respected and worshiped instead of exploiting it for greedy needs is depicted in this movie. It tells the story of how nature can inspire humans to understand the cosmic reality and break away from the chain of illusions. The film is noted for having no dialogues.

Synopsis

A troubled young photographer travels to an unexplored jungle to discover a rare medicinal plant. However, on his way he finds himself lost. The photographer encounters a neanderthal man who would later save his life from a tiger. Both of them resume their journey together. On the way the photographer finds the plant he was searching for but before even taking the photograph, the neanderthal man grabs the plant from its root and crushes it. They both confront in which the neanderthal man dominates. The neanderthal man leads the photographer to a site where cave paintings are found. The photographer finds himself extremely happy and the neanderthal man subsequently explains the laws of nature to him. They resume their journey together and consequently come to a place where human presence is detected. The photographer accidentally steps on a bomb planted to catch animals. He wakes up to find himself cured by the neanderthal man using the plant he grabbed the previous day.

The film follows the standard story about Captain Blood.
