Obama Mama is a 2014 biographic documentary film about Ann Dunham by producer/director Vivian Norris. It was co-produced with Brian Woods. The film was a featured selection at the 2014 Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF), where it premiered in May, 2014 at the Kirkland Performance Center in Kirkland, Washington. Tom Tangney of the Broadcast Film Critics Association listed it as one of his ten "best bests" for SIFF.

Synopsis

Stanley Ann Dunham (1942-1995) est la maman du président américain Barack Obama. Un fils qui ne se prive jamais de dire qu’il doit tout à cette femme exceptionnelle, engagée et libre. Son parcours est ici conté de son enfance dans la campagne du Kansas à son accomplissement du côté de l’Indonésie et d’Hawaï, terre où son fils a vu le jour en 1961.

In the summer of 2011, Nadir Bouhmouch, a Moroccan student studying abroad returns to his home country and finds it in a state of turmoil. The uprisings in Tunisia and Egypt had spread to Morocco. Organized by a group of students called the February 20th movement, people were flooding the streets and demanding change. But the Makhzen (the ruling elite) refuses to abandon its grasp. Divided into several sections. the film investigates what initially gave birth to the revolt and the various obstacles it encounters on its struggle for democracy. The film makes use of several interviews but largely focuses on two young February 20 activists in Morocco's capital, Rabat.
