Synopsis
Elisabeth et Serge Duval vivent heureux avec leurs deux enfants dans une belle et vaste maison de campagne. Leur vie bascule le jour où leur fils de neuf ans, Olivier, disparaît sans explication, après être parti à vélo voir sa grand-mère malade dans la ville voisine. L’enquête ne donne rien et la famille reste meurtrie, sans savoir si Olivier a été enlevé, assassiné ou bien s’il s’est enfui.Actors

Mary Lennox (Kate Maberly) is the neglected, unloved child of a wealthy English couple living in India during the late 19th century. Her mother and father never wanted her and only care about themselves. One night during one of their frequent parties, Mary can be seen hiding in her mother's bedroom under the bed, as her mother unexpectedly returned. Her father follows her mother, whereupon Mary really sees how much they care about one another. Continuing in her narrative, she tells us that her parents always think of themselves, never about her, and that, if only she'd known that in a few minutes she'd lose them forever. Ultimately, an earthquake occurs and both of Mary’s parents are killed in the destruction.

Small Change is a comedy with a serious message, based around the daily lives of young children in Thiers, France. Scenes include a baby and a cat perilously playing on an open windowsill, a girl causing confusion with a bullhorn, a double date at the movie theater, a kid telling a dirty joke, a botched haircut, as well as many scenes about school life. Yet throughout this the difficulties and responsibilities faced by children appear, including the ongoing story of a boy's experience of an abusive home. Truffaut gives a message of resilience in the face of injustice, vocalized through one of the teachers. The story ends with a message of hope, the school closing for the summer vacation, and one of the key characters finding his first love at a summer camp.

Germain is a 45-year-old illiterate handyman who has not had much luck in his life so far. He was bullied at school, both by the teacher and the other pupils because he was a slow reader. Twelve-year-old Simon (Kacey Mottet Klein) lives with his older sister Louise (Léa Seydoux) in a housing complex below a luxury Swiss ski resort. Despite his age, he supports both him and his sister by stealing equipment from the resort, refurbishing them to look new before reselling them to children at a discounted price. Though he makes a substantial sum of money through these sales, he spends most of it on Louise, buying her clothes and giving her money so that she can go on dates. Louise is selfish and irresponsible, unable to hold down a job and frequently going off with men, leaving Simon alone at home. Though Simon tries to teach her how to refurbish the skis, she leaves with Bruno (Yann Trégouët) on a short vacation.
