The film was released by Méliès's Star Film Company and is numbered 100 in its catalogues. The film features a bumbling policeman attempting to apprehend two criminals on the roof of an apartment building. "Every second of this," "highly successfully staged" "minute of film," according to Europa Film Treasues, "is used to construct the character's action and movements" and "made use of the theatre's three-dimensional decor," which "the competition quickly copied." The film was included in the Will Day collection bought by French Minister of Cultural Affairs André Malraux from collector Wilfrid Day in 1959 and preserved in the French Film Archives.
Synopsis
A woman calls for help from her window as two burglars climb over the roofs into her house, tie her up and throw her out of the window. A policeman hears her cries and climbs onto the roof, only to be trapped by the burglars before they make their escape.Actors

On an empty stage, a magician (Méliès) multiplies himself and his chair to form an instrumental band, which he conducts in a lively piece of music. He then returns to each of his identical copies, and a giant ornamental fan appears behind him. Jumping up, the magician disappears in a puff of smoke before returning to the stage for a final bow.

Un homme bien habillé dessine sur un tableau un personnage du XVII siècle, puis laisse apparaître sur sa propre tête une coiffure de cette époque. Il dessine alors un vieil homme à barbe, attribut pileux qui apparaît alors sur le bas de son visage. Ensuite, il dessine un homme avec une grande moustache : sa coupe et sa barbe disparaissent, mais pour laisser place à cette même moustache. Il écrit sur le panneau : « Comic excentric », puis son visage se transforme en celui d'un clown, en général et enfin en diable.

As night falls on a farmyard in the French countryside, four masked bandits climb over the gate and break into the farmhouse. They bind and gag the farmer and his wife, and stab a male and female servant who attempt to help their masters. In an attempt to get the farmer to divulge where he has his money hidden, the bandits burn his feet with embers from the fireplace, but the farmer remains silent. When the bandits threaten to do the same to the farmer's young daughter, the farmer's wife gives in and reveals the money's hiding place. The bandits gather the money; just as they are attempting to flee, the farmer's wife tears off the bandit chief's mask, revealing his face. In retaliation for the unmasking, the bandit chief sets the house on fire, and the bandits escape in the confusion.

At an International Congress at an Aero Club, explorers from around the world argue about the best way to fly to the North Pole. All are in disagreement until the congress's president, the engineer Maboul of France, explains his plans for an "Aero-Bus," an airplane with a passenger car and a huge figurehead in the shape of a bird head. The proceedings are interrupted by a group of militant suffragettes, who announce their intention to go to the Pole themselves. When they have been chased off, the Congress nominates an international group of experts to accompany Maboul to the Pole: Run-Ever of England, Bluff-"Allo"-Bill of America, Choukroutman of Germany, Cerveza of Spain, Tching-Tchun of China, and Ka-Ko-Ku of Japan. Maboul takes his colleagues to his office to study the model of his invention, and then to the electricity-powered factory where the real thing is being constructed. The leader of the suffragettes moves on with her own plans to get to the Pole, building a machine fitted with propellers and a multitude of toy balloons, but it fails to get off the ground.

A professor of astronomy (Georges Méliès) gives a lecture instructing on an impending solar eclipse. The class rushes to an observation tower to witness the event, which features an anthropomorphic Sun and Moon coming together. The Moon and the Sun lick their lips in anticipation as the eclipse arrives, culminating in a romantic encounter between the two celestial bodies. Various heavenly bodies, including planets and moons, hang in the night sky; a meteor shower is depicted using the ghostly figures of girls. The professor of astronomy, shocked by all he has witnessed, topples from the observation tower.

Un homme et deux femmes s'apprêtent à dîner. Au moment de s'asseoir, leurs chaises disparaissent pour réapparaître sur la table : ils tombent par terre. Une grosse soupière apparaît ensuite sur la table ; l'homme en sort une botte, qu'il donne à sa bonne, puis une autre. La bonne enlève la soupière, l'homme jette la botte. La bonne apporte ensuite le repas, un poulet rôti, mais la table soudain grandit jusqu'à atteindre le plafond. Elle reprend ensuite une taille normale puis disparaît pour réapparaître au fond de la salle. Le manège se poursuit jusqu'à ce qu'un spectre fasse son apparition, que l'homme frappe, provoquant sa disparition. Le spectre de transforme en caisse de dynamite qui explose. Le corps démembré de l'homme se met à danser.
