The Young Girls of Rochefort takes place over the course of one weekend in the seaside town of Rochefort, where a fair is coming to the town square. Peter Werner, fonctionnaire, vit séparé de sa femme Grit, photographe de mode. Les filles jumelles communes vivent également séparément : Gaby vit avec son père à Munich, tandis qu'Ulli vit avec sa mère à Londres. Un jour, Grit ira à Munich pour faire des affaires et veut amener Ulli. Peter prétend que tous les hôtels sont complets, donc Ulli et Grit couchent chez lui. Cependant, depuis que Peter a vu un chat noir, croisé trois religieuses et cassé un miroir, il est maintenant suivi par la malchance. Beaucoup de choses vont de travers et quand Grit doit travailler au milieu d'un dîner romantique, Peter se saoule sans retenue. Avec son locataire aussi ivre Wondrak, il écrit à son patron une lettre pleine d'insultes. Peter se réveille le lendemain matin avec la gueule de bois et demande à ses deux filles à côté de lui de poster la lettre. Quand il est à nouveau sobre, il tente en vain de récupérer la lettre. Entre autres choses, il pénètre dans la Poste et dérange trois véritables cambrioleurs. Les trois hommes simples d'esprit font tomber le butin puis s'enfuient avec des sacs remplis de courrier. Peu de temps après, ils sont à la porte de Peter et lui demandent « leur » argent.

Set in Los Angeles, California the plot revolves around Emily Tyler (Ashley Olsen), who enjoys surfing, and her identical twin sister Tess (Mary-Kate Olsen), a member of a high diving team, who try various stratagems to get their widower father Max, a talented artist and sculptor, a girlfriend. At first, Tess and Emily don't like Brooke's son Ryan, but when he helps foil an elaborate scheme by Max's business manager Nigel to break up the romantic relationship between Max and Brooke (Nigel thinks Max's work will suffer as a result), the girls eventually accept him.

Leila (Ashley) and Charli (Mary-Kate) go to Rome for a summer job with four other people. After a few minor accidents, the twins are fired. Both girls are shocked, and so are the other interns. The sisters soon meet Derek Hammond, the owner of the fashion company. He re-hires them and the girls and Jamie stay at Hammond's for a few days. There, Leila meets a bad boy from New York named Ryan (who just so happens to be Derek's nephew). The two soon bond and start to develop feelings for each other while Ryan comes out and tries to kiss her good night. Leila does not respond the same and she pushes him away. It is very clear that she likes him too, but she might have just broken up with her boyfriend back home and was not ready for a new love. The girls soon return to work and do very well. But soon another accident happens and this time it is much more serious. All six interns are fired. Soon after Leila returns with Ryan and the two reveal the plot. They use Charli's designs for the missing clothes. They tell Derek when he returns he already knew about this. They do a photo shoot where Mr. Tortoni comes too he re hires everyone but he is then arrested also the interns and Ryan are very proud of themselves. Jamie and Derek decide to take them all to New York. While Derek and Jamie as well as Charli and Paolo kiss. Ryan tries again with Leila leading to her smiling at him but says she'd rather have a hug. The two hug with huge smiles on their faces, showing that Leila did really like Ryan in that way. The photo shoot is still going on with everyone smiling and laughing.
