A young innocent women Kamala(B. Saroja Devi) come to madras for the newspaper advertisment. Vasudevan(Major Sundararajan) was published in newspaper for vacancy of maid children care job. so, Kamala come to Vasudevan house attempt interview and appointed her. Vasudevan is a widower and he have three childrens the name was Prabhakar(Master Prabhakar) , Kausalya(Baby Kausalya) and Raji(Baby Raji). Vasudevan have one younger brother his name is Murali(Gemini Ganesan). The brothers are worked engineer and contractor. Kamala was very closely and affectionate to Vasudevan family. Kamala was fall love with Murali. But Murali was fall loves with the co-libarian Radha(Vanisri) for each other. Radha and Kamala was close friends in our college days and after long years the friends are met and share our loves. Onedy Kamala try to said love for murali, so she write poet and kept at the murali coat pocket. But nextday only she's knows her mistake. Because kamala kept the poet for Vasudevan coat poacket. Hereafter vasudevan send the poet into "Anjugam" magazine and published. Narayanan(Nagesh)is played stunning performance fits-afflicted guy. Narayanan was very mad about the poet. so he was stick the poet in his room walls. Narayanan is neighborhood of radha. narayanan was rented home for radha house.Narayanan helps to murali love. first the two family is rejected radha & mural wedding, then kamala was convenience to two family. Radha and Murali gets married and they life go claimly. but Kamala not able to forgotten Murali Memories. So, she was sacrifices her love write weekly stories in a "Anjugam" magazine about her own life. But she was changed the character name is "Pangajam". The story was goes to high pinch. Narayanan was fallen love with Kamala. Radha was find all matters , she is friend kamala also fallen love with her husband. So, she was decide to Murali was married to kamala. Radha slept at the "oonjak" and she is leg was fractured then her leg is cure but is continue her acting. But kamala was objection for radha's request. Then Radha and Murali couples was decided to Kamala was gets married for Narayanan and arranged for wedding hall. But Narayanan not known "Pangajam" character is real name as Kamala. Kamala was end the weekly story for pangajam getting married narayan told to kamala is not a god end. The story good ending is about only tragedy. Kamala consumes 12 sleeping dose and commit suicide.

Dharmalingam (M.R. Radha), a rich landlord, is the father of two sons and a daughter. His eldest son has a love marriage with a poor teacher's daughter, Kamala. Dharmalingam disowns them. Gopinath (Gemini Ganesan) falls in love with Janaki (Sowcar Janaki) and they get married in Kasi. The marriage is not accepted by Gopinath's mother and the couple gets separated. Janaki is pregnant and her father (V. S. Raghavan), realizing that no man will marry Janaki a second time, decides to make her a collector. Gopinath meanwhile had moved to South India, where he later married Jaya (Jayanthi) by hiding his previous marriage. They live a happy life with their three children and Jaya's father. Gopinath works as a clerk in the collector's office. A new collector arrives at the office, and it turns out to be Janaki. They tend to work together and Nagesh spreads a rumour across stating that there is an affair between Janaki and Gopinath. This rumour reaches Jaya and she is completely disturbed. Jaya discovers the secret of Gopinath's affair with Janaki. Meanwhile the sons of both Janaki and Jaya, Ramu and Prabhakar drowned in water and have been admitted to Hospital. Somehow Jaya manages the disturbance of the secret and accepts Janaki as her sister. But Ramu dies in hospital while Prabhakar survives. Jaya gives Janaki her son as a gift. Janaki and Prabhakar leave for abroad as Janaki got her duty abroad.

Baskar (Gemini Ganesan) and Vasanthi (Saroja Devi) are college mates. A naughty girl creates misunderstanding between them, and an enraged Vasanthi complains to the college dean, who immediately dismisses Baskar. Now left homeless, Baskar however manages to get employed at a Tea Company, and gets to stay with his close friend Sampath (K. A. Thangavelu). Vasanthi approaches Baskar and apologises for her cruel act. Baskar forgives her, and they both fall in love. Vasanthi lives with her mother and her elder sister Geetha (Vijaykumari) who is unmarried. Baskar rents the vacant portion of their house. Over time, Vasanthi passes her exams and gets employed.
