Maria Enders (Juliette Binoche) is a famous international movie star and stage actress. She travels with a loyal young American assistant, Valentine (Kristen Stewart). She owes her career to having been cast, over 20 years earlier, in both the play and film versions of Maloja Snake by Wilhelm Melchior, a now elderly Swiss playwright. The play centers on the tempestuous relationship between a callous young girl ("Sigrid", a part that made then-18-year-old Maria famous) and a vulnerable older woman ("Helena") who is eventually driven to suicide after "Sigrid" takes advantage of her, squeezes everything she can out of her, then dumps her.![The Messengers](/imagesen/small/12171.jpg)

The film starts with a terrified mother and her young son. As she packs a suitcase, she hears something coming towards the door and makes her son hide under the bed. The door bursts open and a supernatural force throws the mother against the wall, killing her. The son flees and runs into his terrified sister. The boy hides under a table, but his sister is caught and pushed over the banister of the stairs, then dragged down to the cellar. The boy hides but is eventually found by the attacker.

Army private first class Amy Cole (Kristen Stewart) is placed as a guard at Guantanamo Bay detention camp, specifically Camp Delta. As a new guard at the prison she is first cold towards the detainees despite the fact of her showing dislike to certain actions towards the detainees. Eight months pass and she even writes a report to explain an irregularity on a shower shift that lead to a detainee (Peyman Moaadi) feeling uncomfortable. By the end of the film she stops him from committing suicide. At this point it is clear that her convictions towards the detainee are much different as she seems in distress and really affected by the possibility of him ending dead. The film ends by her leaving Guantanamao and leaving him a Harry Potter book he had been asking for years.![The Yellow Handkerchief](/imagesen/small/12820.jpg)

After being released from prison after six years, ex-convict Brett Hanson becomes lost in a new and unfamiliar world of freedoms and responsibilities. Struggling to reconcile himself with his disastrous past, he embarks on a journey to his home of Southern Louisiana to reunite with the ex-wife he left behind, May (Maria Bello). Along this journey, he meets two teenagers: Martine (Kristen Stewart), a troubled 15-year-old who has just escaped her family, and Gordy (Eddie Redmayne), a geeky outcast desperately seeking acceptance. Martine and Gordy offer to give Brett a lift home, and on the ensuing road trip the three reflect on their own personal misfit status while discovering in themselves and each other the acceptance each so deeply desires. Brett weighs whether to start a new life or rekindle his love with May – he's not sure she'll take him back – while Martine reevaluates her relationships with boys and her family and Gordy struggles with his affection for Martine.![The Runaways](/imagesen/small/13729.jpg)
