Rikshavodu is a 1995 Telugu film starring Chiranjeevi directed by Kodi Ramakrishna and produced by Kranthi Kumar. Chiranjeevi played a dual role in the film. It was dubbed in Hindi as Devaa The Power Man. The film was one of the series of box office flops Chiranjeevi had in his career.
Synopsis
Chiranjeevi has enacted dual role in this film. The film opens with scene where Chiranjeevi come to city in search of livelihood in the city with his granny Manorama. He is befriended by Brahmanandam and taken to Soundarya who gives rickshaws for rent. One day while driving passengers on his rickshaw, he confronts with Nagma who hit it by driving her car arrogantly. He files a suits against her in the court but fails due to the influence of Nagma's wealthy father Paresh Rawal. After some scenes Paresh Rawal forces his daughter to marry Chiranjeevi to build up his political career as Chiru has good mass following in his area. Manorama sees Paresh and then reveals Chiru and us about his past. His father (also Chiranjeevi) a good human being and also a village head. Envied by the good name he has in the village Paresh Rawal traps his sister and sees that she suicides and also blames his wife Jayasudha that she is illicit. He kills Chiranjeevi in a village fight and that blame is taken by Jayasudha and she is in jail and all the villagers think that she is actual cause of all this. Now the son takes revenge on the villain and opens the truth before the villagers. Also Nagma transforms to be his lovable wife after knowing her fathers' deeds.Actors

After accidentally meeting, Mridula (Nagma) and Arun (Prabhu Deva) fall in love. The young couple both come from affluent families, and so, to test whether they will be suited for a long term relationship, they both decide to live together. However, a few months into their relationship, Arun and Mridula get in an accident and he passes away. A devastated Mridula is unable to get over her loss, and before long starts seeing Arun in strange visions everywhere she goes. Her family eventually decide that relocating to another country might help Mridula move on, and so they send her to the UK. Once she arrives there, she meets Mano, a young man attracted to her. She knows that her parents expect her to fall for Mano. But as she can't move on, she runs away. She meets a person who looks exactly like Arun. She follows him and finds out where he lives and works. Whenever she tries to talk to him, he denies his relationship with her and says he doesn't know her. However, she later finds out that her father had Arun sent away as he had helped with Arun's sister's marriage and had threatened to let it all go downhill for her. Arun moves to UK in hopes that he can forget about Mridula but he can't and when he meets her, he realises this. When Mridula's father finds out Arun is still alive, he tries to kill him. However he realises his mistake and lets the lovebirds reunite.

The story is set in the backdrop of rural India. Thakur Bhanupratap Singh (Amitabh Bachchan) is the head of the “Sooryavansh” ancestry in the village of Bharatpur where he is also the distinguished Sarpanch of the local Gram panchayat. Suriya, the main character, killed the villains who murdered his family and has been sent to jail. During his time in jail, a well-respected collector celebrates his daughter's birthday in prison. The collector's daughter is impressed by Surya's talent in singing and convinces her father to grant her special permission to learn music from him. During this time, they fall in love with each other and opposition grows from both the girl's parents and the police department they elope. They come to a remote town where they witness the murder of a collector in the railway station during broad daylight, but no one seems to care. They then see that the man who murdered the collector is the chief of the village, so they try to oppose him. In their time at the village, they learn about his past and change their mind about him. He promises them to get them married. The movie then moves towards the climax as whether the village chief will be successful in getting those two lovers married or the girl's father will be successful in separating them using the legal system against them.

Mookkaiyan (Sivaji Ganesan) belongs to a well-to-do family and lives in the village Sozhavandan. He is held in high esteem by the villagers for his prowess. One day, his uncle Chockalingam (V. K. Ramaswamy), his wife Bama (Sukumari) and their foreign-educated daughter Kalpana (Jayalalithaa) come to Sozhavandan to participate in the Mariamman festival. Kalpana is fascinated by Mookaiyan's prowess; her mother disapproves of Kalpana's emotional reaction while her father is happy. Bama settles a young man of Madurai to marry Kalpana. Thavasi (Vijaykanth) is an influential, do-good landlord in a small village, who commands respect from village. Thavasi and his wife (Jayasudha) arrange for the marriage of their son Boopathi (Vijaykanth) with Priyadarshini/Priya (Soundarya). Sankarapandi (Nassar) who had killed Thavasi's sister, after marrying her wants to marry his daughter (whom he had with his second wife) to Boopathi. Thanagarasu who is accused of stealing jewels commits suicide. Thangarasu's mother questions Thavasi's judgement. Thavasi decides to send Bhoopathi to his home. Maragathammal hates Boopathi and treats him like a dirt though Boopathi tolerates it. Sankarapandi wants his daughter to wed Bhoopathi. Boopathi unknown to Maragathammal saves Thanagarasu's dumb sister from Kottaiperumal and also reforms Kaarmegam which Karmegam reveals to Maragathammal in Boopathi's marriage. In the end, a goon who was supposed to be dumb blurts out the truth that Sankarapandi was responsible for the temple theft and he murdered Thanagarasu and made it to look like suicide. In the end, Bhoopathi unites with Priyadarshini.

The film takes place in a village after which the movie is titled. Revathy leads a cloistered life and does not visit anyone. She is worshipped as a holy lad upon whom the god comes down to give them orders periodically. Revathy was an orphan and is found by Janagaraj, who is a street performer. They go from house to house begging for food. One day a lonely woman, Sulakshana,(a secret prostitute of the village high man) accepts Revathy as her own daughter and janagaraj as her brother, into her own house and provides for them. After 10 years, revathy attains age and some days later finds sulakshan's occupation. She and janagaraj attempt to leave her house, but sulakshana suddenly falls ill and this stops their exit . After Sulakshana's death, Vijaykakumar, the head of the village, tries to take advantage of Revathi. But Revathi keeps dodging him and keeps herself chaste.

During a football match at school, some schoolboys breaks the statue of the school's founder. Raju is held responsible for this. He is given two choices, either pay for the damage or face expulsion. The boys get together and earn the money by polishing boots, selling lottery tickets and so on. The school's principal gets impressed with this and the management decides to repair the statue with their own money and spend the money earned by the boys for an excursion. Shortly afterwards during another football match they break the statue again.

Thathachari (Neelu) narrates a small anecdote of Sultan Muhammad bin Tughluq emphasizing on how the king had an arrogant attitude, indifferent view towards his kingdom and subjects, how he treated his guests and also the kind of plans he introduced that backfired. When his son Rangachari (Rajagopal) goes on a mission to research on Tughluq, he finds a buried coffin that contains Thugluq (Cho), and his accomplice Ibn Batuta (Peeli Sivam) alive inside. They claim that they are the true Thugluq and Batuta buried several centuries ago along with a herb that has protected them and kept them alive until 1968 A.D. (the present year of the film)
