Karim (Anas El Baz) et Adil (Omar Lotfi), deux amis d'enfance, sont de jeunes oisifs au vocabulaire vulgaire, qui vivent de petits boulots et d'arnaques dans l'un des anciens quartiers européens de la ville de Casablanca (« Casa la blanche ») qu'ils ont rebaptisée « Casanegra » (« Casa la noire ») terme ironique suggéré par un chauffeur de taxi pour exprimer l'abîme entre les riches (de Casablanca) et les pauvres (de Casanegra). Karim, beau gosse bien fringué, gère un réseau d'enfants de rue qui vendent des cigarettes au détail, alors que Adil rêve de partir travailler à Malmö et cherche la somme d'argent nécessaire à son projet. Karim vit dans une famille où le père, ancien ouvrier d'une usine de traitement de poisson, est handicapé majeur, alors que Adil vit avec sa mère et son beau-père psychopathe et violent, et finit par fuir après s'être vengé en brûlant la voiture de ce dernier. Zrirek (Mohamed Benbrahim) un truand mafieux local qui se fait payer en menaçant ses victimes à l'aide d'une perceuse, leur propose de travailler pour lui. Il les envoie d'abord récupérer une somme chez Rami, un homosexuel réticent, qu'ils finissent par tabasser et voler, Dans sa somptueuse villa, Adil découvre une grosse somme qu'il cache. Karim se rend en boîte de nuit de luxe où il rencontre Nabila, la vendeuse de meubles voisine, divorcée et en quête d'amour, mais il est trahi dans son amour par ses vendeurs de cigarettes qui révèlent son vrai visage de paumé. De son côté, Adil fait fuir sa mère en province et lui remet la somme volée à la station d'autocars. Lors d'une réunion dans la boîte de nuit miteuse qu'il fréquente, Zrirek, qui s'intéresse beaucoup aux courses, leur propose de droguer un cheval gagnant pour miser sur un autre et gagner beaucoup d'argent, mais le cheval s'enfuit et dans la course-poursuite qui s'ensuit, Zrirek est blessé et arrêté par la police. La fin nous remet au début de l'histoire.

Near the rural town of Winton, Queensland, a truck driver finds the body of a teenage aboriginal girl named Julie Mason inside one of the drainage tunnels under the road. Newly promoted aboriginal Detective Jay Swan, recently returned from training in the city, investigates the murder. He learns that Julie was a drug addict who would have sex with truck drivers for money. He questions another local aboriginal girl, Tani Williams, who is friends with Julie, but she refuses to speak to him. A neighbourhood boy tells Jay that he found Julie's phone and gives it to him. Tom (Grant Bowler) and Tori (Evalena Marie) are employees at the fictional Silver Star Casino in Reno. On a slow day at the tables, Tom convinces Tori to join him in a stock room for a sexual encounter. At the same time a news report is airing about "Peace Day", a day when the entire world's supply of nuclear weapons is set to be destroyed. Something goes wrong during the event and a nuclear blast occurs, knocking out power to the casino and trapping Tom and Tori behind an electronic lock. When the power is restored they find the casino trashed and people gone, except for an old lady in a power chair who attacks Tori. After dispatching the old lady with a chair leg, they encounter magician's assistant Jensen (Miko Hughes). He tells them that he turned the power back on and that he isn't sure what happened. Tom and Jensen go up front to check the casino security cameras while Tori goes to the front door to look outside. Tom and Jensen see Victor (Anthony Marks) outside throwing a man to the zombies to save himself. Victor bolts into the casino and demands to be let in. Jensen lets him in and takes him to a bathroom to clean up while Tom and Tori decide to start trapping the other zombies in the casino.

Stephen and his daughter Justine run from a wireless internet ghost of Michelle, Stephen's late wife. The father and daughter stay at Stephen's cabin, away from the city. A short while after they get there, Stephen's girlfriend Marta arrives. As Stephen and Marta are about to get intimate, a laptop sitting on the table turns on, revealing continuous emails to Stephen from Michelle. Corky (Gina Gershon), an ex-con who has just finished a five-year jail sentence, arrives at an apartment building to start work as a painter and plumber. On her way up to the apartment, she encounters the couple who live next-door, Violet (Jennifer Tilly) and Caesar (Joe Pantoliano). After Caesar has gone out, Violet flirts with Corky and asks her to help retrieve an earring that has fallen down her sink.
