Shankar Dada M.B.B.S. is a 2004 Telugu blockbuster film directed by Jayanth C. Paranjee starring Chiranjeevi, Srikanth, Sonali Bendre, Paresh Rawal and Girish Karnad. It is an adaptation of the Bollywood film Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. The film is one of the most highly anticipated and one of the biggest block busters in 2004. Chiranjeevi and Srikanth won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Telugu and Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor – Telugu awards respectively. The film was followed by a 2007 sequel, Shankar Dada Zindabad.
Synopsis
Shankar Prasad, nicknamed "Shankar Dada" (literally "Brother Shankar") is a bhai or gunda: a crime don in Hyderabad. Given that his father had wished him to be a medical doctor, he creates the faux Sri Satya Prasad Charitable Hospital (named after his father) and pretends to live in accordance with this wish whenever his father (Girish Karnad) and mother (Venniradai Nirmala) visit him in Hyderabad.Actors

Governor Jaisingh Sinha (Raj Babbar) is a popular and prominent political figure of the state, besides being well known as an upright person. One day, Gov. Sinha presides over a meeting on the issue of "Open Door Policy", a scheme which will pave the way for foreign companies to operate in India, by implementing usage of computer, industrial machinery etc. The meeting is attended by influential industrialist Meghnad Chaudhry (Dalip Tahil), Union leader Vilas Rao (Sharat Saxena) and minister Mantriji (Prem Chopra), among others. While Chaudhry is in favour of the policy because it would generate foreign investment in India, Vilas Rao strongly opposes the policy which would bring with it the unemployment of a large number of workers because of the utilization of computers and industrial machinery. The difference of opinion of Chaudhry and Vilas Rao leads to a heated argument between the two for which Gov. Sinha terminates the meeting without arriving at any decision on the policy.

Micheal Velayudham (Pawan Kalyan) is a chef in Cape Town, South Africa. He is an easy going chap who flirts with girls and makes the most of his affairs. His ambition is to go to US and work in New York for a stockbroker. He dates one of his acquaintance Meera Shastri (Trisha Krishnan) an art restoration professional in Cape Town. After a year, they agree to break up as she has to move to India for work and he thinks long-distance relationships don't work. In Cape Town, Micheal meets Senapathi (Paresh Rawal) the owner of a restaurant who narrates the love story of his friend Arjun Palwai (Pawan) with Vasumati (Kriti Kharbanda) which had happened around 1981. Meanwhile, after Meera moves to India, Micheal fails to connect with any other girl. To prove to her that he has moved on, he meets a blonde girl Michelle (Danah Marks) in a bar and dates her. However, Meera is proposed to by her family friend Sudheer (Sonu Sood), a politician, and she agrees to marry him, only to prove that she has moved on too. He comes to India with some pretext and meets Meera. Micheal who is frustrated that Meera married Sudheer, gets desperate and tries to regret what had happened so far in his sorrow he gets an offer for his dream job in US. After initially having joyful moments in his new job, he eventually feels some loneliness which he doesn't understand. The rest of the story focuses on how Michael realises his mistakes and how Arjun Palwai's story makes an impact on his decision.
