Synopsis
Rahul Khanna (Abhishek Bachchan) is the only son of wealthy industrialists, who have no time for their son while on the other hand Rahul has nothing but time on his hands and is hell bent upon getting into trouble with the law, such as racing cars with his friends but he gets away with it most of the time by bribing the officer. Eventually his luck runs out one day while stuck in traffic and in a hurry to reach the airport for his flight to America he meddles with the traffic lights turning them all green and causing a number of vehicles to crash. This time the offence is too serious and unable to bribe the officer he is arrested. DCP Bhosle (Om Puri) wants to teach Rahul a lesson but can't think of a way other than making him do time in jail. Neha Sengupta (Hrishitaa Bhatt) inspired by a Bill clinton newspaper article, comes up with a unique punishment idea for Rahul, Community Service. The Judge likes this idea and sentences a remorseless Rahul to a senior citizen's home out in the country. Sparks fly when Rahul meets the old residents of the senior citizens' home, as they do not get on very well.Actors

The story begins on the eve of the wedding of Veera Tripathi (Alia Bhatt), the daughter of a rich business tycoon. She is at a Fuel Station by the highway with her fiancé when she is abducted. The gang who kidnaps her panics when they find out that her father has links in the government. Abbas Ali (Abhishek Bachchan) lives in Chandni Chowk with his sister Sania (Asin Thottumkal). When their ancestral property is taken from them by deception, Abbas loses his job. Twenty years ago Angar Chand (Amrish Puri) lived a wealthy lifestyle in a small town in India along with his wife, Parvati, and four sons, Balram (Jackie Shroff), Kishan (Paresh Rawal), Shakti (Arbaaz Khan) and Jai (Akshaye Khanna). Since Balram is of marriageable age, he arranges his marriage with the daughter of Laxmi Devi (Laxmi), who opposes this marriage. During the wedding ceremony, Laxmi Devi and her sons, Surajbhan, and Pratap forcibly take away their sister and accidentally kill Parvati. They subsequently get their sister married to Kashinath (Shakti Kapoor). An enraged Angar hacks Laxmi's husband to death, is arrested and sentenced to 14 years in prison. When he returns he makes it clear that women will not be permitted in his house, posting a sign on the front gate, and forbids his sons to ever marry.
