Alors que ce n'est pas vraiment son caractère, Edith Emerson, qui vient de se marier avec Frank Emerson, suit les conseils de sa mère et rend difficile la vie du foyer conjugal. The film begins with the looting of a ship already captured and badly mauled, by the pirates. Before dying, the older man (Douglas Fairbanks' real-life father) gives his signet ring to his son (Douglas Fairbanks). His son buries him, vowing vengeance.
