Synopsis
Plainclothes policeman Kam Tai-fat (Bryan Leung) discovers the crimes committed by Cho Tin-pa (Eddy Ko) and plans to report it to the capitol. When Cho discovers this, he sends a group of thugs to hunt Kam down. One day, Kam was severely beaten by Kam's thug and there, he meets Kid (Wong Yat-lung), a street urchin who rescues him is and takes him to his master Old Fox (Yuen Siu-tien).Actors

The film follows two con artist brothers, Yipao (Yuen Biao) and Taipao (Bryan Leung). One day they are cheated out of their ill-gotten gains in an encounter with Jia Wu Dao (Lau Kar Wing). Mr. Tsan (Bryan Leung), is a doctor and master of Wing Chun, whose martial lineage traces back to the style's founder. He is grudgingly persuaded by Fei Chun (Sammo Hung), his lead student, to teach kung fu to Cashier Hua (Casanova Wong), a patient hiding out at his residence. Hua had previously overheard a businessman named Mo (Fung Hak-on) and several of his men plotting to take over the town by killing the head of the town. Unfortunately, Hua made the mistake of warning Mo's wormy henchman, Master Yao (Dean Shek) and a trap was set that nearly cost the poor cashier his life. Whilst in hiding, Hua sends Fei Chun to warn the town head. Ignores the advice, the town head is later attacked by Mo's men, although it is unclear whether he escapes or is killed after a protracted fight.

Lun Man-chui (Dicky Cheung) and Lau Sin-hoi (Aaron Kwok) are students at Ming College who always disputed with each other. Lun is a poor but smart scholar who liked to do petty tricks on others. A short-tempered, violent criminal named the "White Tiger" is on the run from the police and joins a theater troupe to hide out, killing anyone who angers him or who suspects his identity. During the Qing Dynasty, Han Chinese and Manchu people were not allowed to marry each other. The Emperor commands Ko Hung (Eddy Ko) to kill his wife. However he refuses, and he has to see his wife die and engages in a battle with the Sorcerer Bat (Yuen Shun-yee). To escape, he also takes the infant prince with him. Ko Hung later accidentally kills the prince. However, he then finds an infant under a tree whom he adopts and names him "Shu-kan", which is literally translated as "Tree Root". To cover up what he has done, he puts the prince's jade on Shu-kan. Over a decade later, the Sorcerer Bat tries to kill Ko and tries to kidnap Shu-kan and pass him off as the prince. Ko becomes heavily injured, and Shu-kan (Yuen Yat-cho) goes to find medicine to heal him where he meets two elderly Taoist priests, Kei-moon (Bryan Leung) and Tun-kap (Yuen Cheung-yan). Kei-moon and Tun-kap are disciples of the same master (Yuen Siu-tien), and are always quarreling with each other. There the two teach Shu-kan their martial arts and magic skills. The Sorcerer Bat tries hard to get rid of the two to get Shu-kan, but later he manages to kill Tun-kap. Kei-moon then tells Shu-kan to enter a competition to obtain the Supreme Command. Shu-kan, using the skills he learned, enters the competition where he goes through many different obstacles before he faces off with the Sorcerer Bat. He eventually kills the Sorcerer Bat, wins the competition and brings the supreme command with him. As he returns, he and Kei-moon discover that Tun-kap actually faked her death to fool them to obtain the Supreme Command. The two elders then quarrel again over the Supreme Command. They then decide who will take it in a game of Rock-paper-scissors. First, they both hand gesture "rock", then "paper" but Shu-kan gestures "scissor" and beats them both. With the Supreme Command, Shu-kan commands them to stop quarreling.

Restaurant waiter Sing (Stephen Chow) has always been obsessed with manhuas featuring triads and hoping to be part of them. One time, Sing rescues triad leader Wai Kit (Peter Yang), whom takes Sing under his wing. Sing also becomes good friends with Wai's underlings Chun (Wilson Lam) and Bill (Shing Fui-On). Later, Wai intends to retire and chooses his successor from the aforementioned trio. Then, the trio were sent to the Golden Triangle for trading activities, although faced obstacles, but successfully completed the mission. However, after returning to Hong Kong, due to conflicts in the gang, Bill is killed, Sing becomes an outcast and Chun also dies while rescuing Sing. The melancholic Sing then leave the underworld.
