Snails in the Rain (Hebrew: שבלולים בגשם‎ Shablulim BaGeshem) is a 2013 Israeli drama film. The film revolves around Boaz, a beautiful linguistics student, who receives love letters from an unknown man, which undermines his sexual identity and threatens the stable relationship with his girlfriend.

Synopsis

Tel Aviv, été 1989. Un étudiant reçoit des lettres d'amour anonymes écrites par un homme mystérieux. Ces mots viennent perturber sa relation avec sa petite amie. Qui est donc cet inconnu qui provoque en lui ce désir brûlant ?

The film tells the story of Imri, who at 19 goes to live in Tel Aviv, but dreams of moving to Japan. Through his relationships and encounters and in diverse cinematic tools, we are introduced to the young man's life. An exploration of living in the exotic city of Tel Aviv is presented through a hero who is himself in the midst of exploring his own choice of an exotic place. A unique correlation is formed between the hero's misconception of Japan and ours of him. She climbs onto the roof of a building and strips off her clothes to commit suicide. Before jumping she notices an open window and decides to go inside. After getting close to the window she finds it is in fact closed but she smashes it and goes inside anyway.
