Synopsis
Billy Kirkland (Bobby Coleman), is a 10-year-old boy with cancer who is convinced that he has only weeks to live. He has two misfit best friends, Lucas Lamb (Christian Martyn) and Howard Garvey (Bobb'e J. Thompson) who he attends school with. Wanting to remembered, Billy and hjs friends try to pursue fame but face a series of schemes which stand in their way, including their neighbourhood bullies.Actors

The film opens with a news broadcast about a teenager named Jason Jackson (Bobb'e J. Thompson) being shot outside of the Monte Vista High School dance lock-in. Then Jason tells the story from the beginning, in which it starts with him trying to get in the most popular dance clique in school, The Ranger$ (Langston Higgins, Julian Goins, Dashawn Blanks) but they say he has to pass the initiation of getting a pair of panties from one of the Sweet Gyrls by midnight. Jason is also trying to get his crush, Anastacia (Kristinia DeBarge) to notice him, but all she remembers him is when he peed on her in elementary school.

David Gordon (John Cusack), a popular science fiction author, was widowed when his wife Mary died as they were trying to adopt a child. Shy, socially inept teenager Nick Twisp lives with his mother, Estelle, and her boyfriend, Jerry, in Oakland, California. At Kinetech Labs, an inventor named Allan Topher designs a robot for search and rescue, but when he finds out that the robot will be used for military purposes, he programs the robot to flee. The robot escapes but is damaged in the process. It is discovered by 12-year-old Henry Keller, who fixes it and names it Cody. The robot does not remember its past, and Henry and Cody develop a friendship. Eventually, Cody regains his memory and Henry gives Cody back. The inventor feels guilty for taking Cody away, so he returns the robot to Henry. Allan meets Henry's mother, Joanna, and they get along really well. Kinetech finds and corners Cody and Henry. Cody activates another function of his, and takes off with Henry, flying high up into the sky. They reunite with Meagan but when they call their mother, they find out that Kinetech has kidnapped both their mother and Allan so that they can get the robot back. Meagan, Henry and Cody embark to save them and to bring down Kinetech.
