Dès la parution de la première bande annonce, de nombreuses critiques négatives sont émises sur le design de Sonic. Suite à cela, le réalisateur Jeff Fowler annonce que la créature va être retravaillée. Ainsi, la sortie du film est repoussée au 12 février 2020.

In the previous war involving the Kingdom of Ehb, a three-year-old boy was found wandering the field of the Battle of Oxley Pass by the rancher Norick (Ron Perlman) and adopted by the town of Stonebridge. Granger, a former Special Forces soldier living in modern day Vancouver, is sent on a quest to fulfill an ancient prophecy. The film takes place in the town of Paradise, Arizona (a ghost town in real life), where the volatile Postal Dude, after being mocked at a job interview, kicked out of his local unemployment office and discovering that his morbidly obese wife is cheating on him, is more than a little angry and is desperate to get enough cash to finally leave his dead-end town.
