Synopsis

Jake (the only survivor from the The Grudge 2) is placed in a mental asylum after the events of the second film under the care of Dr. Francine Sullivan, his caretaker. One day Dr. Sullivan leaves Jake locked in his room as he tried to escape several times, as Jake begs her not to saying "she" will get him. While huddling on his bed, he hears Kayako in the room and begins pounding on the door to be let out. Kayako grabs Jake and begins to throw him around the room. Sullivan is quickly called by an officer, as she watches the footage on camera wondering what Jake is doing to himself (as Kayako cannot be seen on the footage). As they race to his room, they find him dead, with every bone in his body broken with his wrist slashed and blood everywhere.

Avi is an ace photographer who is in a live-in relationship with Sonia, a model. One night while returning from a party, the couple accidentally knocks down a young girl with their speeding car. As Sonia was driving the car, to avoid further complications, Avi insists on them fleeing from the accident scene. But trouble starts for the couple soon after. While strange white marks begin to appear in Avi's photos, Sonia starts having spooky experiences. Ugetsu is set in villages which line the shore of Lake Biwa in Ōmi Province in the late 16th century. Genjurō arrives with his profits, but she asks him to stop. Genjurō nevertheless works long hours to finish his pottery. That night Nakanogō is attacked by soldiers, and the four main characters hide out in the woods.
