It is the story of a music lover named Kishore (Prosenjit Chatterjee), he belonged to a poor family. He wanted to learn music from a person named Shankar Maharaj (Soumitra Chatterjee), who stopped teaching music because his students ditched him after learning music and violated his instructions. His daughter Ontora (Rituparna Sengupta) helped Kishore to learn music by employing him as a maid in their house. They fell in love with each other. When Shankar Maharaj, came to know about the fact, he asked Kishore to break this relation as a token of his teaching. After sometime, the student who violated the instruction of Shankar Maharaj released an audio cassette & she hired Kishore as the music teacher. In the felicitation ceremony Shankar Maharaj was terribly humiliated a girl student, that he can't sing & knows nothing about songs. To prove her wrong, he started singing but fell ill in the midst of the song. Then Kishore came & completed the song & gave his required token as a teacher. This is a family drama which is portrayed on a background of Durgapuja, West Bengal's biggest "Utshob" (Festival). The story is about a cultured Bengali family, different members of which have gathered in native house on the occasion of Durga puja. Dr. Ankhu(Dipankar Dey) a heart specialist has lost his wife and lives with their son, Sudhanshu(Prosenjit).
