Synopsis
A young married couple find themselves drifting apart. Wife Cathy Bennet (Dorothy Duke) finds temporary pleasure at swinging parties or in the arms of another man, Frank Grover (John Michael). Husband George Bennet (William Thomason) confronts his wife about the widening chasm between them; she tells him she feels they are somehow incomplete without children. She undergoes testing to see why she hasn't conceived. George, who has accompanied her, is asked to also undergo testing and is found to be the problem: he is sterile. Physician Dr. Wright (Timothy Farrell) suggests artificial insemination using a sperm donor. This proves successful and the Bennetts begin a new and happy phase of their marriage.Actors

The film begins with a narrator, called The Scientist, making cryptic comments about humanity. He first comments that humanity's constant search for the unknown, results in startling things coming to light. But most of these "new" discoveries are actually quite old, to which he refers to as "the signs of the ages". Later, the scene turns to the streets of a city, with the narrator commenting that each human has his/her own thoughts, ideas, and personality. He makes further comments on human life, while sounds accompany some comments. The cries of a newborn baby are followed by the sirens of an ambulance. One is a sign that a new life has begun, the other that a life has ended.

Umberto Scali has returned from a prison sentence with two lucrative enterprises; a women's health spa that gives the women Dinitrophenol tablets that reduce weight but may have dangerous side effects, and selling Benzedrine to teenagers through a young man who provides them through swinging parties held at a house owned by Scali. Some of the teenagers attempt to pay for their drugs by committing burglaries. Peter Huber (Peter Kern), the proprietor of a Bavarian corner newsstand, wins a free trip to New York City in a magazine contest, he is overjoyed.
